2009 has been a good year for British Boxing we now have numerous fighters withing touching distance of a world title, we now have three solid champions and there are a number of decent prospects coming through.
We could and should see the below involved in world title fights next year.
    Rendall Munroe
    Ricky Burns
    Kevin Mitchell
    John Murray
    Paul McCloskey
    Ryan Rhodes
    Matthew Macklin
    Nathan Cleverly

Not a bad list and beyond that you have guys like Kell Brook, Darren Barker, Martin Lindsay, Don Broadhurst (If he beats Lee Haskins), Jason Booth who are all ranked and are all talented. We have the biggest fight in possibly two decades to look forward to and possibly the best crop of British prospects we have had. I for one am looking forward to what should be a great year for Boxing :good

Mitchell's the only man on that list who is definitely world class. Cleverly maybe.

But the rest are only title contenders in an era of four world titles a division.

Always back the great amateurs: which means wait a few years and we'll see Frankie Gavin p[erate at a top, top level, with Mitchell, Khan and (if he stays on) Haye all at or near the top of their divisions. Throw in Degale and that's a pretty good list of Great Brits.

Out of that list of 7 British boxers, who do you see as capable of beating any of the world champs at their weight? Unfortunately I reckon Macklin is the only one on that list who could claim a world title in the next year or so. The rest are either not world class material or may be world class but not at the stage to be stepping up to world title fights.

Kell Brook is world class, honestly. He always steps up when asked.

He'll win the EBU belt in 2010 and possibly an alphabet eliminator, but with the the WW division being so stacked don't think he'll get a shot unless someone vacates. Saying that Clottey may be tempted with a fight back in the UK. And the WBO is the only organisation he's rated by. Madness!

Saying that, I think Paul Smith (4) may fight Allen Green (3) for a final eliminator for the WBO SMW belt, with Andre Ward (2) and Arthur Abraham (1) being tied up for the next couple of years.

Imagine Mitchell vs Katsidis for the WBO? What a scrap that would be. Murray could be in the mix their too.

Wish them all well. Will be definitely on Murray's fight against Mezaache if it happens early next year.

Would love to see that Mitchell Katsidis scrap aswell. Would be a good one.

Yeah 2010 should separate the men from the boys, so to speak.

The Light Middle scene is opening up nicely with a few shock results and a lot of Champs and contenders looking to move to Middle.
For that reason get your money on Rhodes to secure a version in 2010.

Well I give them all a chance more then others obviously but I don't see any reason why a few of them can't pick up belts. As echoed above it will sort the men from the boys but there really are some top potential matchups for the next year. I think 2010 could be the best year in boxing for a very long time and would be shocked if there aren't others who see it like that.
