If Pac/PBf falls apart theres really not much to look forward to in 2010 other than Berto/Mosley Super 6 has lost its swagger Cotto - will retire JML - Plans on avoiding Caballero and Gamboa Mayweather - Wont fight Mosley Pacquiao - Will fight an irrelevant fight and retire for politics Haye - Wont fight the Klits Dawson - No good fights in the division nor at cruiser, Hopkins wont fight him Bute - cant make noise or establish himself until the winner of the super 6 emerges and that wont happen until 2011...maybe 2012 Pavlik - Cant depend on him to go through a big fight Williams - ATG potential aura has evaporated from him This is how badly we need the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight to go through. I only see optimistic signs at 140 since it is so deep, especially if JMM/Hatton gets made...sadly that would probably be defined as the megafight for 2010. Other then that Im not expecting much except for some good but not great fights at the smaller weights like Donaire/Vic II, Kameda/Wong and Hasegawa/Montiel (hopefully).
To me personally the super six has not lost its swag so much... i mean, damn we still got AA vs Froch, Kessler vs Froch, ect, ect... theres many good fights to be had, people shouldnt let a few bumps in the road ruin something like this. and then we still got The whole 140 division to sort itself out - Bradley, Khan, Alexander, Urango, ect - Hatton/JMM Mosley vs Berto, and the winner of that to fight quintana or clottey. Got some younger heavyweights who should be making an impact this year somewhat in Boystov and Solis Mayweather will have to fight a big name and dangerous opponent in his next fight you would think I believe Kirkland comes back this year, which makes 154 a pretty entertaining division - Kirkland, Angulo, Cintron, Martinez - All battling it out. and HOPEFULLY we can see a Gamboa vs Lopez fight down the road in 2010.... if they both fit in three fights this year i cant see why this fight cant happen on that third one towards the end of the year. I dont know man, im pretty damn excited for how 140, 147, 154 and 168 all turn out.... there should be plenty of meaningful matchups to determine that this year, so chin up Boom! :good
If 'the' fight doesnt happen then i think i'll lose any interest for awhile, sick of all the on off **** to get big fights made and also the let downs, you lose the heart for it, was very excited for this superfight and its looking like it wont happen, the only way to not keep being annoyed about it is to switch off from the boxing for awhile and avoid it.
Don't forget Margo's coming back in 2010 :happy Cotto-Margo II could be an enticing possibility Mosley-Pac will be massive later in the year (if Mosley gets by Berto) Haye will have to fight a Klit, he won't make any money otherwise Hopkins-Green will be interesting if they both can agree on terms Donaire-Vic II will be awesome Might not be that bad, if some of those fights are made
Kirkland wont be released until very late in the year cant expect to see him fight in 2010. JML's people have already said they have absolutely no plans to fight Gamboa. And the thing with Mayweather, you hold your breath hoping hes going to fight a dangerous opponent and you end up choking, you get used to it and dont even hold your breath for him anymore...well thats how it is for me. 140 is going to carry this sport in 2010 I believe, the talent is there and they all want to fight each other.
Just have some hope we can still get some things done. The Super 6 has lost some swag simply because of a bad decision and JT being close to the end but we always get bad decisions and I hear JT is about to get bought out. Im looking forward to Dirrell-Abraham and Froch-Kessler IMO should be a good scrap. Mosley-Berto is a great Welterweight unification bout. We have Gamboa and Juanma on a collison course and there "tuneup" fights are agianst really good guys. Paul Williams more then likely will fight Sergio Martinez agian or Kelly Pavlik and trust me I aint complaning about that. Chambers-Wlad is one of the few good Heavyweight fights out there. Mayweather-Pacquiao ? well who the **** knows and honestly I dont care if the fight happens. I think Mosley-Pacquiao is the best fight in boxing I couldnt care less about how much money a fight makes especially when I get none of it.
I actually do think Pac and Mayweather will fight, Haye and VK will fight and the Super 6 will add a lot to the year. But that's because I don't want to be bummed out right now. Stop depressing me. :verysad
I agree 100%. I think 2010's gonna be a great year for boxing! At least, I'm very optimistic about it. Will it be as good as 2009? I dunno, impossible to say right now. I don't think it will be, but it could be close. But I have no reason to believe 2010 will be anything less than a solid year for the sport we all love.
Come on guys are you boxing fans or just big fight fans there are loads of fights out there, Here in UK we have Brook v Jennings,Barker v Macklin,Nathan cleverly going for the European, Ryan Rhodes getting a shot at a world title,Carl Froch in the super six.
Negative nelly. We're starting off with Berto vs Mosley, we have guaranteed top fights in the SMW division. It'll be good.
Patience my friiend too much money involved in that fight I'm 100% sure that the fight will get made this year maybe not in march, a fight that was sure was too early to get made but between July and October I'm sure will get made, only patience my friend and enjoy the other fight until this get made. By the way seeing a Japanese fighter unifying is like seeing Floyd vs Pac in March, not going to happen.
