2010 P4P list (as of today) 1. Manny Pacquiao 2. Floyd Mayweather Jr. 3. Juan Manuel Marquez 4. Nonito Donaire 5. Shane Mosley 6. Chad Dawson 7. Paul Williams 8. Sergio Martinez 9. Pongsaklek Wonjongkam 10. Celestino Caballero 1989 P4P list 1. Mike Tyson 2. Julio Cesar Chavez 3. Pernell Whitaker 4. Michael Nunn 5. Antonio Esparragoza 6. Meldrick Taylor 7. Azumah Nelson 8. Raul Perez 9. Virgil Hill 10. Marlon Starling My question isn't necessarily which crop of fighters were better; I will put some of those fighters listed above in H2H fights against each other. Who wins in these match-ups? (Remember you must match the 2010 version vs. the 1989 version, even if they weren't "prime" at that stage) Marquez vs. Whitaker Marquez vs. Nelson Martinez vs. Nunn Williams vs. Nunn Perez vs. Caballero Esparragoza vs. Caballero Pacquiao vs. Chavez Pacquiao vs. Starling Mayweather vs. Chavez Mayweather vs. Starling Dawson vs. Hill
Im assuming this is HTH, for instance Mayweather hasnt passed Chavez yet in terms of greatness but id pick him in HTH matchup at Welter. Why would you match Chavez up with a Welter? I picked him over Pac cause Pac could easily make JW unlike Mayweather. I had to think hard about Perez-Cabellero,Dawson-Hill,Marquez-Nelson,Pac-Starling although i have my reasons for picking each. 6-5 1989 but thats with your matchups if you go 1-10 on who had the greater fighters 89 wins hands down 9-1 only one i rate higher from 2010 is Pac over Tyson.
How is wlad not top 10? I mean caballero is freaking 5'10 or something and he fights at 122-126, thats pathetic. I'm pretty sure wlad has done more than him.
Even though i think you overrate heavys and you think i overrate the smaller guys. I agree with you id rate Wlad over Caballero.
Yeah i saw caballero fight some asian dude on tv like a couple of weeks ago, and the size difference was ridiculous man, this guy is like the featherweight version of anthony rumble johnson.
I think Caballero is a good fighter but nothing special, more like top 20 or 15 at the highest definitely not top 10. Only Anthony Johnson ive ever known of was a short journeyman lightweigh back in the 90s.
LOL my bad I had dozed off when I had made the thread without realizing the rule I put in I kept thinking about Chavez-Mayweather-Pacquiao fights being matched up at 140 the whole time. I'll just throw in another match-up then: Mosley vs. Starling
Id take a 89 version of Starling over 2010 Mosley by decision 117-112 type of decision. However id take a Prime Shane over Starling by close decision.
Marquez vs. Whitaker Marquez vs. Nelson Martinez vs. Nunn Williams vs. Nunn Perez vs. Caballero Esparragoza vs.Caballero Pacquiao vs. Chavez Pacquiao vs. Starling Mayweather vs. Chavez Mayweather vs. Starling Dawson vs. Hill The P4P list isnt up to much, 1 from Wlad, Haye and Bradley should be top 10, Mosley probably should drop out
Caballero is nowhere near Perez anyway. I also think a fired up Starling could well give Pac a bit of a pasting. He'll back him up for sure and that's not good for manny.Lazy starling would get outworked.
Marquez vs. Whitaker Marquez vs. Nelson Martinez vs. Nunn Williams vs. Nunn Perez vs. Caballero Esparragoza vs. Caballero Pacquiao vs. Chavez Pacquiao vs. Starling Mayweather vs. Chavez Mayweather vs. Starling Dawson vs. Hill
