...I would like to make an attempt at a question based in Logic and Common Sense, so with that being said, it may be out of the realm of comprehension of the ESB General Forum. So here we go, if any of you own a "Thinking Cap" please wear it now...so I would imagine that's about 2% of the General Forum. Ok, humor aside...here is my question. But first allow me to build up to the question with some FACTS...I know that's a rarely used word and concept in the GF lately...But Please, Hear me out. Does anyone remember this: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEHF5HX6Jb0[/ame] Now to the casual observer...ya' know the people/posters with a "Lack of Comprehension" what you hear is a fighter calling out several fighters. But in Reality what was said was FAR MORE ENLIGHTENING about the difference betwween Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. This is what Floyd said: "I hear Shane Mosley and Oscar De La Hoya are Coming Down to 147lbs , if that's the case then Floyd Mayweather is WILLING TO MOVE UP TO 147LBS FOR A FIGHT!!!" Team Mayweather did not request and/or demand that these fighters come down to a weight or else...NO FIGHT!!! And he said this after a fight at 140lbs in a title eliminator. Remember those everyone...TITLE ELIMINATORS?? Fights that put you in line for a shot at a title. Yet there is a "certain fighter" that just says **** THAT!!! "Let's just move up in weight, turn down fights from the Lineal Title Holders and fight the weakest Belt-Holder or Not fight any of the Belt-Holders of that weight Class and just pick a fighter who doesn't have a Belt nor a License and fight him for a Vacant Title". When did this **** become ACCEPTABLE??? Now Lets Fast-Forward to this year. Before Pacquiao Turned Mosley down (after ridiculous weight demands) before Floyd Fought Mosley..there was a young 25 year old fighter who said **** a Catchweight, **** Your name recognition and **** Your Future Hall of Fame Status...I WILL FIGHT YOU!!! Andre Berto stepped up long before Pac or Floyd...yet he's called a Bum, Garbage fighter and Overrated. But that's another Thread for another time. So anyway....the Lineal Title Holder Shane Mosley gets his Ass-Spanked by Floyd. Now all of a sudden Fans of a "certain fighter" who's fighter refused to fight him are calling him OLD & SHOT!!! And they Honestly think that because Mosley spent 12 rounds chasing a Bigger fighter (Mora) who chose to RUN for 12 rounds....That means Mosley is Shot? So let's all assume this is true...that Shane Mosley is an OLD & SHOT FIGHTER AND SHOULD RETIRE. Here is my Question... WHAT DO YOU THINK THAT SAYS ABOUT A FIGHTER AND HIS TEAM WHO CHOOSES TO FIGHT THIS OLD & SHOT FIGHTER? ESPECIALLY WITH A HANDFUL OF TALENTED YOUNG, FAST, ATHLETIC, SKILLFUL AND PRIME (OR ON THE VERGE OF PEAKING FIGHTERS WHO ACTUALLY WANT TO FIGHT PACQUIAO)...These Fighters would be a better test and assessment of not just the Talent of Pacquiao but the skill and readiness of these younger fighters. Right now, The only thing Shane Mosley has to Offer is A NAME!!! In every pool-hall, every basketball court, every doctors office, in every super-market...people know Shane Mosley by NAME. Yeah it's a great Business Decision. But IMO....it's speaks Volumes about Character and drive to be Great that these young fighters are begging for a chance to fight the #1 P4P fighter in the World. But "Team Pacquiao" wants to fight Shane Mosley. This content is protected
you forgot to include the money factor in your little speech, i think that will make it more interesting
so floyd won't fight pac again next year? even his hardcore fans thinks he would not fight pacquiao again for the 3rd straight year.
Yes, But honesly its not very hard we just look at Mayweather and laugh. Mayweather only got himself to blame
i am asking this because i don't care **** about anyone who pac fights next aside from floyd. and it was not a criticism but just a honest question. i can admit that maragrito did not do much for pac's legacy and anyone he fights next would not mean anything if not floyd. pac is now more into the monetary benefits if he could not bring floyd.
I don't know...But IMO, everytime I hear or read about something Arum said...it's always about Mosley. Maybe they're are giving up on the potential fight with Floyd...I SURE HOPE NOT!!! Agree....1000%
Good post pretty much..... I am forced to agree in this case. BUT.... the fight isnt signed yet. Pac could still wind up facing the winner of Bradley/Devon or Berto (personally I think Berto should have to beat one more peer in order to get the fight) And I think Pac fans in general are a good bunch, its just a few of them give the rest a bad name. I dont think many will defend this fight should it happen, its just the ones that do will be the loudest.
at pac's current stature, berto will not mean anything for pac's legacy. it would be a good win but in time, a win over a shot mosley would have bigger name recall. the only thing good about the mosley fight aside from the money is that pac can say that he fought every good welter in his time, irregardless of mosley's condition now.
:good Well put...and of course we have the usual list of responses from those of us who fail to see that there is a CLEAR pattern here of choosing fighters who've looked less than stellar, in their recent performances...among other unsavory tactics. And somehow...that's Mayweather's fault. :nono
one of Team Pac members voiced out that Mosley is a quitter and Pac wouldnt need to train if they would fight. i don't know if that's credible.
first of all pac - mosley isn't signed. Marquez / Berto still have a chance at getting made. And Berto will seriously get his ass handed to him as bad as Mosley, if not worse. I would like to see a Marquez fight, but in reality there are no logical fights out there for Pac right now except Floyd. He might as well retire if Floyd won't fight him.
