Based on who accomplished much this year, it should be Brian viloria. Donaire would be a shoo-in since Montiel is more accomplished than any in the S3 but his other fight was against a fighter who moved up. Plus, in those fights, he was expected to actually win overwhelmly. Ward is a candidate too but I simply don't see the S6 that suddenly turned S3 as that deep competition. Most of those are either old, had already been exposed or simply limited fighters. In terms of overcoming odds and at the same time, fighting against credible opponents, viloria did it twice this year. Can you say the same with ward? Unfortunately, little fighters seldom get credit in esb and fighter of the year favors bigger fighters.
Small guys dont get their props... how could abraham&froch a much better win than miranda&Segura??? Ward was never the underdog in both fights while viloria was the heavy underdog and he destroyed the #9 P4P!!!
