What if Froch can beat Johnson and Ward to win the Super Six? And then beat Bute near the end of the year?
Ward is a good guess as he's the favorite to win the whole S6, but any of the last four deserves it no matter who comes through with the Ws. Maybe Haye if he can beat both Klitschkos or Vitali for shutting both David's and Solis' mouth (from eating). Hopkins might pull one last big year beating both Cloud and Pascal or Dawson stops Pascal and legitimately beats Hopkins. There's an outside chance of Floyd-Maravilla and the the winner would have a strong case for P4P#1 and the FOTY award whereas the winner of the Bradley-Alexander-Khan matchups will offer a solid candidate too, just like the man coming out on top from the JuanMa-Gamboa-John trio if these fights get made. But the Montiel-Donaire winner will have a huge victory and a strong argument as early as February 2011 so he could 'steal' the award from everyone else while I don't see a Segura or Gonzalez winning it no matter what they do. In the end, I predict Ward or Donaire, and I have a hunch it will be the Filipino Flash.
someone who can dethrone Klits. David Haye of course or Tomaz Adamek (Im still thinking he can handle Vitali by using his mobile to come in&out of Vit range)
JMM to fight 2 top 140 fighters and go on to unify in early/mid 2012 stopping khan along the way. If not then Juan Manuel Lopez/Andre Ward or Haye after defeating Wlad by a devistating K.O!!!! p.s i know the latter is a long shot but hey its christmas!!!!
or Floyd mayweather after defeating 20 guys in the showers all by devistating K.O after he gets sent down!! Grenade.........Bang!!!!!!!!!!
Assuming Floyd doesn't spend 2011 bending over for the soap in a Nevada Correctional Facility, he'll be fighter of the year after he counterpunches Pacquiao into retirement.
Assuming Mayweather doesnt fight Pacquiao I'll go with Donaire, Bradley or Ward. (Or Miguel Acosta after he smashes Rios and beats Soto)
If Bradley dominates Alexander and -eventually- wipes the floor with Khan, he'll get my vote. Ward has a shot, but so does Froch... if Ward outclasses AA like he should, and if he gets a wide UD in the S6 finale, it could be good enough. If Froch solutions the Road Warrior and wins a brawl vs Ward, it could be good enough. I don't personally think we'll see the S6 winner vs Bute or Kessler before early 2012... although a late Nov / early Dec fight is a possibility. Say Lemieux kills Rubio in 4... HBO could push for Lemieux-Guerrero to be on the same card as Martinez-Zbik, preparing a Martinez-Lemieux showdown late in the year. If my boy David takes the WBC belt in spectacular fashion, and depending on who is actually willing to get in the ring with him after he gets rid of Rubio, he could get my biased vote for fighter of the year. Haye would score a homerun by TKO'ing Wlad... it's possible, but oh-so-unlikely.
Ward would have to be the favorite going into the year. He has two guaranteed fights against two damn good fighters in Abraham and Froch or Johnson.
Funny you mention Acosta; I was just thinking earlier today that Rios is going to have his hands full with him. Pretty even fight going in IMO.
