2011 Fights of the Year: Weightclass by Weightclass

    Yeah, that's right :lol:

    Let's try and select the best fight in each division this year. Obviously some people know more about certain weight classes than others but this thread might introduce us to some great fights that we've missed this year.

    Heavyweight:     Tyson Fury vs Neven Pajkic or Derek Chisora vs Robert Helenius?
    Cruiserweight:
    Light Heavyweight:     Nathan Cleverly vs Tony Bellew
    Super Middleweight:
    Middleweight:     Craig McEwan vs Andy Lee or Felix Sturm vs Matthew Macklin?
    Light Middleweight: Pawel Wolak vs Delvin Rodriguez I
    Welterweight: Victor Ortiz vs Andre Berto
    Light Welterweight:     Amir Khan vs Lamont Peterson or Marcos Maidana vs Erik Morales?
    Lightweight: Miguel Acosta vs Brandon Rios
    Super Featherweight:     Paul Appleby vs Liam Walsh?
    Featherweight: Juan Manuel Lopez vs Orlando Salido
    Super Bantamweight: Teon Kennedy vs Jorge Diaz
    Bantamweight: Ryosuke Iwasa vs Shinsuke Yamanaka
    Super Flyweight:
    Flyweight:     Hernan Marquez vs Luis Concepcion I
    Light Flyweight:     Roman Gonzalez vs Manuel Vargas
    Minimumweight: Pornsawan Porpramook vs Akira Yaegashi?

    If there's any you think that are better than the ones I've listed then mention them and also help fill the gaps in!

    Good thread. Will have to think about it.

    Perhaps someone(ahem, me) should make a similar one regarding a fighter of the year? We should have a running series of divisional awards or something.

    Heavyweight, Fury-Pajkic or Helenius-Chisora for me. I would add Fury-Firtha but for the most part that was a bit too one sided to be a FOTY contender. Cleverly-Bellew for Light Heavyweight, also Webb-Arron has to be a contender at 154.

    Márquez vs Concepción I was at super-flyweight.

    Vázquez Jr. vs Arce for super-bantamweight perhaps.

    Nope, Marquez/Concepcion was at fly :good

    Arce/Vazquez is a very good shout - great fight and an upset.

    I would go with Arce v Vazquez for 122, loved that fight :yep

    Struggling for a Crusierweight fight, haven't seen Greens last fight against the Pole but it sounded pretty good. Huck V Garay? Thought that was a very entertaining fight.
