Was just watching Cobb's fight with Larry Holmes and starting thinking what a fight that would be, that Cobb against todays Wlad. Cobb didnt put up much in the way of defense, but he kept comin forward and absorbing everything Larry threw at him!

He wouldnt run away from Wlad, but Wlad also wouldnt be too worried about Tex hurting him, so i would assume wlad would let his hands go...for 12 rounds!

I would pick Wlad to win either a 12 UD, or a Referee stoppage. But i wonder if wlad would be able to knock that version of Tex down, something Larry couldnt do.

Either way, i think it would be an exciting fight and a exercise in seeing just how much punishment one man could take!

Wlad by stoppage, he hits way harder than Holmes, although he isn't very offensive minded so...

Cobb sure could block punches with his face. One tough sob.

Tex had more balls than brains when it came to boxing, and that attitude combined with his Homer Simpson-esque defense is not going to serve him well here.

Wlad wins a relatively boring and uneventful UD. Holmes had superior stamina to Wlad, and Wlad wouldn't risk punching himself out on Cobb. Plus whenever Tex gets within range Wlad clinches/leans to nullify his offence, instead of firing back like Holmes did.

I saw Cobb at a club in Philadelphia back in the 90s and that guy's head and hands were mutant-sized. No wonder he could absorb such a beating, he had a Cro-Magnon man's head. That said, Vlad batters that head and doesn't let those mutant hands next to him for twelve long ones.

Blocking punches with his face won't work against Wlad. Also Cobb is way too slow to counter Wlad, so he won't be as cautious. Mid-late round stoppage.

Screw cobb, watching Larry Holmes in that video was a thing of beauty. We would be blessed if we had a HW today that could do even half of what that video showed. Throwing that many punches with bad intentions in the 15th? And not just 1-2's but mixing it up with hooks and uppercuts and using movement. This is just a sad reminder of how crappy the division has become.

Cobb was not deserving of title shot, any champ of last 100 years beats him, anyone in top 10 now beats him. He was tough, that's all. Interesting side thing about him, he was kick boxer for a while, a fought a guy who had beaten him once in a boxing match, lost again.
