Look at these two current heavyweight champs here. This content is protected This content is protected Now let's look at them before they turned pro. This content is protected This content is protected
Wlad wouldn't have gone to the Olympics if Vitali hadn't failed a drug test. And as for Povetkin, he's no more a world HW champion than I am.
You're wrong about Wlad. He was supposed to fight at heavyweight but after his brother got booted out moved up to super heavyweight. It wouldn't have been hard for him to make the weight for 'heavyweight' either when you consider he fought at below 100 kilos after turning pro. Povetkin and Haye before him were both good World champions.
Haye wasn't an Olympian. And didn't he lose to Solis in the final of the World championships? Haye was also not a Heavyweight champion.
Come on Slea ..where the break down..you spend a ****ing year research the little flyweights of the 16th century and cant breakdown two big men who are young and could could go on to big things...........:verysad
I've spent years watching and reading about all the weights old friend. Slea, again? It's as innocent a cuss as 'Stan Darsh'. Any footage of the new Savon?
only playing fella, dry humour. Need your thoughts on the next gen....Dychko, Hrgovic, E. Savon, Joshua...we have enough tape to watch..youtube it...i reckon they will turn pro for late this year. Sorry didnt see the last bit - [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDwXEEXOM8M[/ame]
Savon was impressive, took a little while to get really going but that's not surprising, the Frenchman was a big unit trying to impose himself. Loved the way Savon wasn't afraid to get the final say in exchanges, and as he got his timing down he turned deadly, with a lovely combo to end it. Fast hands, but has the air of a hittable fighter IMO. Like many heavyweights, his ability to consistently impose his game will be down to chin and strength. I can't see him being a range dictator, even though he does look fairly good on his feet. Of course like many Cubans it will be very important to see which path Savon goes down. As a heavyweight, greediness is easier to maintain as the limit is infinite. Still, a Heavyweight Gamboa? Yes please :yep
21, 6'4 1/2 or 6'5 depending the sources..not sure his weight. He could deffo blossom, he was robbed against the Azerbaijan fighter, the ref stopped it when he got hit hard, even though he had the other guy on ***** street. One weakness is he too gung ho, especially when trying to finish someone off, which leaves him open, far more talent than Anthony Joshua, but Big Josh is stronger, and most likely has a better chin. Super-Heavy I. Dychko E. Savon A. Joshua P. Hrgogic Heavy O. Usyk These guys could be fighting for title in 5 years time.
If they're all in shape and talented, it could be interesting. But not willing to invest much hope in it all coming off at this stage.
Savon for me is the most graceful of the amateur HW's I've seen but not seen much of him. I just hope big Soviet robots don't dominate the next era of HW's. A fast heavyweight, with charisma, heart and explosive power is what is in order.
Definitely. I'm infinitely more hyped about Savon based on that one clip I've seen than say, Seth Mitchell.
