Making his debut in a 4 rounder on November 9. I'm surprised Golden Boy have taken him on as he looked **** in the Olympics
Just how pro boxing works. The weaker American gets the big money pro contract with the powerfull promoter and the Eastern European and/or Central Asian who beat the crqap out of him can suck eggs and stay amateur because the Western promoters want nothing to do with them. At least in the overwhelming majority of cases.
It's not quite as simple as that. Despite a lack of success in the Olympics, this guy is the number 1 rated superheavyweight in the U.S. Talent scouts know how to evaluate amateurs by now so if they see a marketable guy who has the core physical attributes for success in the pro ranks they will sign him even if he didn't look so great in a crooked tournament...yeah I said it.
Possibly. But I was only responding to the inevitable "Life is unfair, how come they didn't sign xyz boxer?" post.
