I think 2012 was the start of his decline,he never looked as fast as he did against Haye again and Steward's death was a huge loss. Vitali became the loudest voice in the corner, and him and Wlad never seemed to work well together in that sense.

That said, Wlad probably still has enough gas in the tank to out box and stop Joshua. At 41, Wlad still had the reflexes, stamina, and power to almost gut it out. Its only logical to assume, half a decade earlier, he would be too much for AJ.

Wlad KO... Almost got the job done 5 years older, at 36-37 he definitely has more in the tank and that would almost certainly be the major difference.

Wlad would probably score a KO cause he had more power and speed back than so Joshua doesn't survive the right hand

Joshua still has the style to defeat him. We are also going to assume the fight plays out exactly the same way and that means Joshua doesn't rush into things and lets wlad off the hook and doesnt finish him off early. we are also going to assume wlad has more movement and footwork that he never showed like he did in 2017 right?

Age does not make the fighter its actually good and bad for Wlad, sharper punches? Maybe a bit but he would also be easier to hit ...really you could say or should say 35 year old Wlad in 2017 ( fighting the same way as he did against Joshua)vs 19 fight Joshua ..then you would have a better case. Wlad being more aggressive doesnt exactly make it easier for him bc thats not what Steward built him into.

Sure Wlad wins if Joshua plays the jab game...however whos to say Joshua doesn't abandon the jab sooner and repeat what he did in rnd 5 and round 11 ?

Anyone can have Klitchko winning this by making their own outcome and how each rnd is played out,but i'll fgo with style advantage here.

Joshua wins and doesnt let him out of inside 5 rnds, klitchko will force the k.o on himself faster at a younger age.

We will see how AJ develops, but 2012 Wlad vs 2017 AJ - I think that that Wlad stops Joshua if the fight goes in similar way as in 2017. 5 years ago he had better reflexes and speed and hasn't had 1,5 year-layoff.

2012 Wlad fought Jean Mormecks ghost and hugged onto him for dear life until the old Cruiser weight had no legs under him.

Wladimir should have had points taken off for his constant clinching against Mormeck

    ^^^^^

There's a reason why Wlad fought a clinch free fight against Joshua- he knew AJ was too much for him within the wheelhouse so done his best to keep his distance.
He knew this after his clinch-box proved totally ineffective against Fury.
2012 Wlad wouldn't have known this so would have have haphazardly looked to clinch AJ as much as he did with Mormeck. That move would have rendered him sprawled out on his back for the 10 count.
No Wlad beats any AJ , just like no Wlad beats any Sanders or Fury.
The Joshua that blasted out Wlad was green , inexperienced and came into the fight way to heavy. A prime Joshua ends any Klinchko in 4 rounds or less

The left hook was dangerously close to landing multiple times in their fight. I'm inclined to think the 2012 versions find home. I think Wlad stops him in the mid rounds

lol.. The lighter , less clinch happy Wlad that just fought Joshua was better equipped to win a decision than the heavier Clinch happy Wlad of 2012.
Wlad said over and over that his best asset to win the fight was his knowledge and experience , well the newbie Joshua displayed more dimensions of the fight game in just 18 fights than Wlad did in over 60 fights. Wlad spent 60%- 80% of every round he fought in his prime locked into a clinch. That only means theres one outcome against a big inside fighter as good as Joshua.
Reality is Wlad never fought , let alone beat anybody as good as Joshua. He was primer against Calvin Brock and Sam Peter back in 2006/2007. Peter took him life and death and Brock out landed him on power punches before hi back gave out from all the bear hugging.
No Wlad was ever on this level. He lost to all the best guys he ever faced , Povetkin included.

No true fan of boxing would give Wlad credit for that performance. Zero boxing skill played a part in him obtaining the win against Povetkin. He and his team prepared to to fight that way cos they knew Povetkin was the better boxer and knew he would knock the china clean off Wlads chin.
