2012:Wlad's lost year

    3 meaningless terrible fights in a row. How does Fat Dan rate this guy so highly?

    Mormeck,a 40 year old Cruiserweight with only 3 HW fights on record.

    Thompson,a 40 year old with no speed or power who was already KO'd

    Wach,a slow lumbering clubber with not much power and zero quality wins.

    And Wlad showed us that he is cautious as ever and has no killer insticnt. as well as questiaonble stamina.
    No great HW puncher lets Mormeck go 3 rounds.

    And I know Wlad's excuses "these were the only guys availble"

    BULL****!

    Even Sherman Williams would have been a better choice than Mormeck,Thompson and Wach.

    The fighters that fans on here say are his biggest threats Price, Fury, Mitchell, and Povetkin either aren't ready or won't fight him or both. What in the **** is he supposed to do? Sit on the couch?

    Steward touched on this several times as he said in his 50 years or so in Boxing he NEVER saw so many Heavyweight Contenders afraid to take a title shot.

    Three terrible fights that did absolutely nothing to enhance his legacy. Mormeck along with Harrison might well be the worst HW title contender in the last 50 years. Thompson was ancient and Wach has virtually zero skills.

    Let's be blunt, it would have made no difference had he not fought at all this year.

    The division had been cleaned by late 2011.

    Mormeck...Easy tuneup against former CW great. Not better than many defenses of past champions (ex. Richard Dunn, Manuel Ramos, etc)

    Thompson...Mandatory and Ring Top10 contender.

    Wach...Undefeated giant with granite chin. Many said Wlad would have problems because of his height.

    What can you do when no one wants to fight you?

    Answer: Expand your reign one more year and reach 13 title defenses.

    Answer: Offer reasonable contracts for once. A German newspaper published an article just a few weeks ago about Boente's slave contracts but I couldn't be bothered to make a thread about it, although I'm sure I'll do it someday.

    Even if you were to beat Wlad, you must rematch him and and his brother and even though you're the champ, you submit yourself to K2 Promotions in all three fights - you fight under their conditions and you earn the smaller portion of the purse. That's unprecedented. Also, in case of not attending a press conference, you have to pay a 100.000€ fee which is significantly more than any other promoter ever asked for.

    Top guys don't want to fight Wladimir unless offered a dumptruck full of money. So instead of doing nothing he fought three times in one calendar year which is something most top level boxers don't do. Hell, it's something a lot of average boxers don't do.

    Wladimir finishes another year as the best heavyweight and therefore best boxer of the world.
