I apologise if there is already a thread on this, but I personally I feel this year we'll see Sky back in PPV boxing.

The main reason being that there are potentially two huge fights which will need Sky's marketing and £££ to get made. Those fights are Froch-Kessler and Haye-Vitali.

Hearn himself has said that Froch v Kessler is a Stadium fight, but it will need to be box office to make it. I had suspected that this would end up being PPV for a while. Also, in a recent iFilm interview Hearn also said that Froch is bringing the majority of the money to that fight, and that although people find this controversial, when the fight is made we'll see why.

As for Haye-Vitali, in my mind the only thing that makes Haye attractive to K2 is the money he can generate from PPV. If he doesn't have PPV he's just a very risky fight for this stage of Vitali's career who doesn't really bring any more reward that any other opponent. As soon as Haye lost to Wlad, Vitali was calling him out. He saw the money Haye was making and wanted a piece of that pie for him I think that Haye has known for a while that his chances of getting a decent (if any) deal out of K2 is dependent on getting PPV.

I suppose potentially Haye could try getting the fight on boxnation or primetime, but the can barely afford to advertise on their own channel, so the subscriptions will be shocking and it won't be enough to entice Vitali. Froch on the other hand is obviously tied to Sky so cannot go elsewhere, but has made quite a name for himself for his last couple of fights which have delivered excitement, so I really can't see how they can lose with that one.

Anyway, that's my thoughts on this. Yours? :think

    You could well be right.

I think sometimes ppv is a necessary evil, if it makes Froch/Kessler happen then so be it.

I just hope it comes with a fantastic undercard, the mag 7 card raised the bar certainly in terms of quantity.

If matchroom can add any three/four from Bellew Frampton Brook Rees Yafai Purdy and put them in 50/50 fights then it would be a special night.

That's the thing - if it makes a big fights happen that wouldn't otherwise then I'm more than happy to get some mates round, chuck a few quid in each and have a cheap night in with the boxing.

But we know what happens, it's not long before they start to put any old shite on PPV i.e British title fights between two novice fighters.

Yeah true, Haye gets the stick on here for ppv but sky were just as much to blame, no quality control.

There needs to be set criteria for ppv, a bare minimum of four fights and no Johnny Nelson would be a start.

    Froch vs Kessler
    Vitali vs Haye
    Brook vs Khan
    Bellew vs Dawson

All potential PPV main events if they take place and I couldn't see them taking place without it.

I have no issue with PPV as long as the main events and undercards are PPV quality. Would like to see all PPV's with a UK & US leg.

If Bellew and Dawson fought in my back garden I'd draw the curtains.

Dawson vs Bellew could happen without PPV if Bellew fought in the US. Definitely doesn't happen in the UK without PPV (which would need a mega undercard to justify it IMO).

Its not that big a prediction (that PPV comes back in 2012) but I agree with OP 100% but Froch-Kessler is the one likely to do it. In fact its probably already been OK'd by Barney Francis provided there is a decent card to support it.

Dawson vs Bellew would be more PPV worthy than most of the PPV main events in recent years.

I would like it if Hearn tried to make some if the bigger domestic fights on the undercards as chief support. Frampton vs Quigg & Barker vs Macklin for example.

With a PPV platform it would attract fighters like David Price, George Groves, Nathan Cleverly & Ricky Burns to switch when the time is right.

I actually think (ducks for cover) that Brook with a world title (and the kudos that goes with it) vs. Khan is a more PPV worthy fight than Froch/Kessler to the casual fan. Sure marketed right Froch/Kessler would do well on PPV but Brook/Khan is genuine grudge match a la Fury/Price. Froch/Kessler are a bit too chummy for the casual fan in my opinion and it's difficult to sell the concept of PPV coming back off a "respect" based match up.

Sky cocked up PPV with the Wlad/Haye fight and suffered a PR disaster- I think Hearn is being a bit naive in thinking it's just the actual numbers holding back PPV returning to Sky.

Hearn won't be getting Dawson over here though. How many would be pay for Bellew at 5am? I'd be unsure about it and I'm a big Bellew fan.

100% agree on Khan v Brook being a bigger fighter to casual fans and more importantly SKY customers. If SKY go back too PPV I think It is the only fight that would perform well. I'm not sure Froch Kessler could pull this off especially considering what happened with Haye. I think SKY are still very wary of PPV for Boxing and Khan is probably the only man who could pull this off especially with someone like Brook coming through.

Bellew-Dawson is getting talked about as a decent PPV? Hearn can do no wrong with some people at the moment, can he?

This is the problem with PPV though, Haye - Wlad was a PPV worthy fight in theory. A CW champ and HW titlist stepping up and fighting the HW champ in a unification fight. Fights don't get much bigger. But they stunk out the joint and people were disappointed.

I get the impression Sky have given the go ahead for this fight to be PPV, hence the talk of bringing the bulk of the money to the table vs Kessler. He even stated last year that to get this fight in a stadium in Notts it needs to be PPV. I think it'd sell well. It'd have been two years since the last PPV sting, and people have short memories once the Sky Hype machine gets rolling.

 at Bellew - Dawson being a 5am PPV.
