The second Orucuta fight wasn't even close I'm afraid, the judges may have had it so but it REALLY wasn't. Notably Narvaez is the ONLY man to have stopped Inoue's compatriot Hiroyuki Hisataka and that was 16 months ago (and NArvaez looked AWESOME that night.

Gonzalez had 4 wins this year TWO good ones. Fuentes (top 10) and Yaegashi (top 3). Juan Kantun and Jetly Purisima were "meh", though when you fight 4 times you do get a gimme or two IMO.

Light Flyweight is actually a REALLY interesting division right now, though it's also a mess.

The champions (at least Mendoza, Nietes, Guevara and Petalcorin) are good, Garcia-Hirales is certainly not a bad guy, Rodriguez has gone up there, Miyazaki has gone there, Paipharob is there. It's not the strongest but it's certainly not a load of **** like some would suggest.

RE Nietes and the ring magazine title. IMO Fuentes go jobbed the first time around and Nietes beating him set the record straight, it shouldn't however have been for the ring title (like wise Beltran Vs Crawford for the ring title was just as stupid).

Adrian Hernandez is a weird guy. He has wins over the likes of Rodel Mayol, Ganigan Lopez, Erik Ramirez and Keb Baas BEFORE fighting for a world title. Lost to Porpramook in THAILAND (i.e. Hardest place on the planet to win as a visitor) and then his best win was over Kakutani. He also has a very good win over Gideon Buthelezi.

You ain't kidding....beat two of the best fighters/champions in their respective divisions in 8 fights? Dominated the top guy and champ in Narvaez which was two weight classes north before his 22nd birthday? Kid is on the fast track to greatness to say the very least. Narvaez had never been stopped before Inoue took him out. Must be the "A side of Meff" AHAHA....sorry, had to do it before these clowns begin their rants about why this kid is something special.

It was a tough call before Inoue snatched up his 2nd world title against ANOTHER world champion who was recognized as the "top guy" of the divison. Being only 22 with only 8 fights, moving up not one but TWO weight classes ands scoring the KO which Narvaez had never suffered in his extensive 15 year career only solidifies Inoue as fighter of the year.

Crawford and everyone else are distant 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th.....ect.

    That wasn't even remotely close.

Difference is that it was pre-prime B-Hop against far post prime B-Hop.

Agreed.....Kovalev did a great job but it was a 50 year old Bhop he dominated.....Roy dominated a young man in his physical prime in Bhop.

Pacquaio has two votes and Gonzalez one.

glovesofcrimson, Platonist, and g.dog - care to explain? :D

You can share your opinion freely; it won't be met with scorn or ridicule (at least by me, can't speak for anybody else) - but you need to understand that you are going against the grain where most informed boxing fans see this as clear-cut for Inoue, with the only acceptable alternative answer as Crawford. Therefore you must elucidate a strong case for why you've picked anyone else.

 You might need to write this in crayon on construction paper if you want a response.

And replace 'elucidate' with 'explain.' You're confusing the Pac****s.

CST80...Kovalev, eh? I know you follow the sport very closely. What about Kovalev's year puts it above Inoue's, for you?

Great year, don't get me wrong - but IMO he boasted one great win (Hopkins) and two pretty good ones (Agnew, Caparello) while Inoue had one great (Narváez ), one very good (Hernandez), and one pretty good (Basapean)

Hopkins and Narváez cancel each other out, while Agnew and Caparello are both a little better than Basapean but neither as good as Hernandez.

He and Inoue are about even but in terms of relevance Kovalev's victory and how he accomplished it, by outboxing Hopkins, will stand the test of time and could very well be to kickoff to a very significant run and to the top of the p4p rankings, Inoue beating Narvaez was just as important but sadly no one outside of this site knows who The Monster is, or Narvaez for that matter, they only know Omar as a Donaire victim.

Plus I've been high on Sergey for a few years so I'm slightly biased towards him, which I have no problem admitting.

Also Hernandez does have 2 previous KO losses, while that doesn't take away from the significance of the win, Agnew and Caparello were both unbeaten and we really don't know how good they are.

    :good

    I can respect that reasoning.

I just think a 39 year old Narváez and 49 year old Hopkins are on the surface already close (though edge to Hopkins, of course - the greater overall fighter and fully one decade older, even allowing for grading lighter weight fighters on a different curve since they generally age more poorly) so that it comes down to method of victory. Kovalev deserves a lot of credit for managing to not only drop and hurt but outbox Hopkins (unexpectedly, for many) but at the end of the day Inoue wiping Narváez out just blows me away that little bit more. If the methods were switched (Inoue wide/shutout UD12 Narváez with a knockdown & Kovalev annihilation KO2 Hopkins) I'd have Kovalev as my hands-down Fighter of the Year.
