ok well have to just leave it at that were at totally different end of the spectrum on maidana, i dont think maidana has proved that he has imporved a lot as a fighter, karass is poor lopez isnt great and the other guy he fought was a bum, broner was a decent win but i wouldnt say broner could hack it with any 10 guy, youd expect old maidana to beat him too algeiri beating provonikov might have been a better win.
i thought mayweather was just underpreared in the first fight and caught out a bit with his posing and looked a bit shot in the second. there was a fair few swing rounds in the first fight and he was fairly negative and not very impressive in the second.
i cant see an arguement for him but i think pacs isnt too far off kovalev but you rate maidana higher than i do so thats that

 

I'd actually say Wanheng and Tanaka are both worth speaking about, and then again there is a suggestion they could meet in April...so 4 could become 2 soon enough.

Tanaka win over Hara a bit like Joshua beating Fury. It over unbeaten domestic rival for continental title. Fury best win over small Cunningham or domestic rival Chisora.

Hara win over Mabao say 2 thing. Mabao nearly flyweight for weigh in and Mabao record misleading.

 

i said he hasnt proved that he is a better fighter, his skills are a bit better but hes in a higher tougher division dont know if hell be a better fighter than he was at 140 youd expect him to beat the level of fighters he beat at 147 at 140 aswell

 

I'd go with Kovalev. Beating Hopkins was huge!

 

I don't think you can actually make that case for Maidana being #3 H2H at welterweight since the division has 1.Mayweather 2.Pacquiao 3.Marquez 4. Bradley 5&6 Alexander and Khan who had both already beaten Maidana 7. Thurman who's still unbeaten, 8.Brook, 9.Porter. I think he was roughly the tenth best welterweight. Beating the tenth best guy in your division doesn't make you fighter of the year.

What I really don't like about the Maidana Mayweather match up was how it was yet another example of Mayweather fighting a guy who's shorter with shorter arms, who spent most of his career at light welterweight. To be fair I really didn't like how much bigger Inoue was than his opponents either. I'd like my fighter of the year contenders to beat guys who have significant physical advantages over them. That guy Rigo beat up couldn't box very well but he was six inches taller than Rigo. You don't see that very often. Rios was a sitting duck for Pacquiao but he was a naturally bigger man who outweighed Pacquiao significantly on fight night. I think people who voted Pacquiao, could have taken this into consideration, though more than likely they are fools who just like Manny and don't follow the rest of the sport.

 

No, it wasn't. It's what should have happened years ago but the talent level was too light at LHW. Hopkins finally got put in with a good fighter who dominated him start to finish. Now, if Hopkins had beat Kovalev at that advanced age. That would have been huge.

 

Ah, November 24th. Right you are, sir. However, I still don't consider that much of a win. He should have fought Brook, Porter, Thurman, someone like that if he wanted to be in the running. The Bradley rematch was fine but he'd already dominated him in the first fight. The Algieri fight was too weak and besides it's only two fights. I like my fighters of the year to fight three or four times.
