Haha come on though, this is performance of the year, world elite level stuff here, those guys dont cut it. Bundu hasnt even broke into world level, loads ahead of him at welterweight or at least have the the odd win or better showing or something. Id say this debate is going nowhere though

No, this isn't about the F'erOTY. This is the IPOTY.

Thurman didn't even make the F'erOTY poll:

Well in the Performance of the Year the "elite world level opposition" part is less important than in Fighter of the Year.

    Not unimportant, mind, but less.

As said earlier, the Performance of the Year is a more complex formula that factors in both opponent value and qualitative evaluation of the performance sui juris.

Pitching a near shutout against someone who is on the bubble of world class but not quite, and who is boxing in a very negative, minimalist, pain-in-the-ass manner countering with pot shots and being elusive can be as impressive as, say, a laborious split decision over an elite, or even more. It all depends on how all the considerations are subjectively weighted.

Bey dethroning Vasquez should be up there. Crawford, Burns, and Gamboa were ducking this guy. No one except Bey was willing to face him and put on an unforgettable performance against Vasquez.

No I think you have this and the robbery of the year thread mixed up.

The decision was unforgettable. The performance - without the shocking decision that followed - would have already been forgotten by now.

If Max Kellerman or Jim Gray was telling people who Inoue and Narvarez are this poll wouldn't even be close. :-(

That judge who gave it 119-109 Bey should be up for worse performance of the decade.
