I actually had it to Love by a point on the night myself, but some had it narrow for Periban and my overall point was that with both that if both and Jack had gone his way (as they both reasonably could have) on the official cards suddenly DeGale's excellent performance over him also becomes a very solid W on paper instead of in the more abstract "what's the fighter worth in eye-test/h2h terms".

I'm actually not displeased by some people raising the Brandon Gonzales win above that one. I just assumed most people gave DeGale more credit for Periban (due to his reputation from 2-3 years ago when he was an unbeaten prospect himself as the "super middleweight Leo Santa Cruz", and his respectable showings against Bika/Jack/Love even if did come up empty-handed going 0-2-1 officially) than for Gonzales, who I actually rate quite highly myself but have seen viciously slated on here (mainly on the British forum) and dismissed as nothing special on DeGale's resume in spite of his draw with Oosthuizen (which is even more of a stock-raiser than official victories over Jack or Love would've been...and furthermore I thought Gonzales was screwed and beat Tommy comfortably)

That's usually the case with these kinds of polls. It's the more high profile ones that usually get the recognition and votes, not necessarily the most deserving ones.

Word. I get it. I just don't really agree with him being listed on your OP by any stretch of even the understanding imagination, is all. It's cool though, good discussion.

Yeah, the more I think about it myself, the more DeGale vs. Gonzales is the better pick as far as DeGale performances go (because 1. Gonzales put up more of a fight than Periban did and still got trounced, even worse and 2. Gonzales' stock ought to have been higher)

I'm kicking myself, because I actually had DeGale TKO4 Gonzales as the feather in James' cap last year, with the Periban TKO secondary and the Khatchikian one just kind of "blah" icing on the cake - but I've been so brainwashed by all the negative pooh-poohing on the board and tearing Gonzales down that I ended up going with my perception of the current of thought on here that Periban was the better win over the better opponent, contrary to my own instincts.

Maybe I misread the mood on here, or was attributing the feelings of just a few clowns in the Brit forum to everybody on here. :conf

You'll have your chance to vote for it when the poll goes up, I promise you. That was the first bout to secure a spot on the poll.

Right now the most productive thing everyone can be doing it helping decide the other half of the poll options so I can put it up and get voting underway. :good

    Are you officially nominating it?

Happy to add that one if you like. For me, though, Geale was taken out more impressively for a host of reasons. (two fights removed from having been IBF champ; took more chances than Rubio - in fact was landing as good a shot as he is capable of landing on Golovkin himself at the exact moment he got countered and KTFO; had never been stopped and rarely hurt in his career whereas Rubio did have those early Roman and Jantuah embarrassments; Geale was prime and in excellent shape whereas Rubio is older and came in overweight; Geale brought faster and more educated movement and Golovkin still got to him and broke him down in just a round longer than it took with the slower and less mobile Rubio...)

I'm actually on the edge of my seat waiting to see how the last five spots on the poll shake out.

The sudden-death race is between the following, with each just needing one more nomination to make it on the poll:

    Drozd UD12 Wlodarczyk
    Gonzalez TKO9 Yaegashi
    Pacquiao UD12 Bradley
    Cotto RTD10 Martinez
    Khan UD12 Alexander
    Povetkin KO10 Takam

At least one above won't make it. There are the many dark horse sleepers too, which could theoretically come from behind.

Ohhh. I thought you meant you were going to upload all the nominations so far, not just my original jumping-off list.

So that's why you were so confident in (and capable of) getting it done in just 15 minutes. :yep (still not bad though...but the whole shebang would've been crazy to do in that short a time, which is why I was incredulous at first)

You did plenty. From here it can be just BYOV. Nominate something, include the video (or let people find it on their own)

I could have done the whole shebang in about 35 minutes:scaredas:But I'd need a nap afterwards.

Ra's Al-Ghul's mention of Jermain Taylor over Sam Soliman is actually a good shout out here... (not that I am "voting" for him or anything)
