Not best in the world. Just a very good welterweight.

How didn't Thurman look good? Because it went the distance? He won nearly every round, if not a complete shutout, against a very good welterweight, and dropped him en route.

    Can't really ask for more.

    Except I suppose a knockout.

But I don't see any welterweight knocking out Bundu, honestly.

Honestly, I have trouble remembering much of it. I would have to rewatch to make an argument, which I won't because I remember wanting it to be over. I remember that much.

I didn't expect Thurman to be on the backfoot and to be getting touched as much, when Thurman went into the fight as a hot prospect.

That's how you have to win sometimes. :conf Didn't your boy Wilder, against Stiverne? Was his showing unimpressive because he was on the backfoot and didn't knock Stiverne out, ruining his perfect KO record?

"One time, every time; A knockout every time out" is just a catchy phrase to market himself, not a standard he ought to be held to against the best 147lbers out there.

Chaves touched Thurman more than Bundu did. I think Keith was scared he was going to reinjure his shoulder and played it safe. If that was Floyd Mayweather shutting out some one like that, he would get nothing but praise for it. It was a complete individual performance shutting out someone who's never lost, not my favorite of the year but impressive nonetheless.

Although Bundu doesn't have much pop and Thurman could have gotten out of there if he'd tried a little harder I think.

It's called a double standard and I'm at peace with it.

Nahhh. Bundu's cagey. He's like the welter B-Hop.

Yeah but Keith could have at least attempted it a few times like Sergey did in the 12th.

Maybe Keith was attempting a new method of KOing an opponent :zzz

I watched the fight again tonight, kovalev really did win impressively, his patient and concerntration immense. I'd say having to beat hopkins is one of the most mentally draining challenges anyone could do, even at 50 years old. There is always pressure to beat an old man but Bernard is so wily, clever and dirty. But I felt like even hopkins was intimidated whenever he did hit kovalev he was countered straight back, kovalev could clip him with a flailing left hand and hopkins would go straight back to survival mode. He was very worried during the fight, thank god for his alien shaped head and extra terrestrial chin, that he managed to absorb that many shots. I don't fancy pascals chances of lasting the distance.

I was about to ask if you have seen Inoue vs. Narváez, and then remembered your stance on that "lesbian hype job", so never mind. :yep

why the hell is thurman-bundu up there. "on time" was running almost all through the fight like he stole something.

with the choices, i give it to pacquiao.

Its a pity I couldn't 4th and 5th Brook-Porter, it deserves to be up there instead of Thurman Bundu. An alt would have come in handy for that one.
