Worst year in ages? Been a really poor year IMO & its no coincidence its happening when Eddie has gone down the PPV route. It's hard to think of a show without mismatch after mismatch and anything half decent and there's talk of PPV. I'm sure it wasn't this bad the last couple of years. 2016 needs to be better Eddie :good
Agreed, been absolutely woeful. Can probably count on one hand the amount of fights over the course of the year I've actually enjoyed.
hope they really pick it up next year, i won't cancel because of other sports but it really has been poor!
I think its been bad year. Look at some fighters and its like they got a year off. Tony Bellew has fought nobody after nobody this year. Its a shame as Bellew can be exciting. Same with Quigg too up until the Kiko fight. There has been some decent fights Cleverleys last fight was a good 1. Luke Campbell and Tommy Coyle was good too. DeGale and McDonald were all good to watch fighting for World titles. Think next year it can go either way. AJ has to move up a few levels. Campbell too have to be progressed on too. Then you got the fights between Martin Murray v Smith's to happen maybe even adding in George Groves too and DeGale these fights should be made and if Murray wins a title and DeGale defends his chances of a big unification fight between the 2 be good. I always take the good in having Sky involved in boxing I wouldnt be shocked to see more PBC shows being on Sky too some of the cards had good fights on it that they showed the 1 on the Cleverly card was a great fight with the 2 Japanese fighters.
Overall poor year, has been some good highlights but unfortunately they have mostly been on the PBC cards, like the Degale, McDonnell and Cleverly fights. However the Brook Gavin card was very good, minus the main event, and there have been a couple of other decent cards too. It does look like there could be a fairly good end to the year, but with a lot of the Matchroom fighters being young or toward the beginning of their careers surely it will only get better.
there was one decent show ...but i cant even remember what one it was when you compare it to what boxnation have shown its chalk and cheese
Very poor year for Sky Boxing, not just the action but the Sky Boxing Team needs an urgent reshuffle and a few sackings. For a start Nick Halling has to go and Watt should be retired off. After that, I personally would rather Sky stick on some low level domestic grudge fights that are competitive and stop giving us 1-50 and 1-100 favourites in main events and telling me they are "dangerous" for the favourite and that I'm watching "world class" action every time a Matchroom fighter throws a little flurry.
Spot on! Think Watt would be better being a pundit who pops up just to give opinions on upcoming big fights.
I think they need freshing up big time. New look would be best for all. I liked hearing Benard Dunne when they were over to Dublin for the Macklin fight. It was good to see a fresh face with fresh ideas. Should have him over for the Spike v Eubank Jnr fight be good to hear his opinions on some of the fights.
Some cards/fights were good but there's a lot of ill-feeling over the way Sky are trying to fleece everyone. Doesn't help that Fish Eyes has done **** all too.
The best fights involving Matchroom fighters have been on PBC shows. Seems to be the way, feed them no hoper after no hoper on domestic shows to get their ranking up (Warrington Joshua etc) and then as soon as they get a shot its PPV over here (Selby, Mitchell etc) or bags packed with a flight to the states (McDonnell, DeGale, Brook etc). Only person that I can think of that has got himself a title shot over here on normal Sky Sports is Crolla. Perez must have been bloody cheap.
