Too bad we didn't get to see Robeisy in the finals, would have been a real moment of truth for Shakur.

Crazy that we aren't even going to see the Cuban in Río.

More ceremonies on deck - live boxing may be over, at least until the mid-afternoon intermission.

    A whole bunch are in.

Erislandy Savón, Leinier Peró y Roniel Iglesias, and probably a few others via WSB or AIBAPB rankings.

Roniel Iglesias suffers a monstrous cut (I think from a butt) and faces stiff opposition from Gabriel Jose Maestre Pérez but closes strong and takes gold.

I only caught the last round-and-half but it was a pretty highly skilled contest

Clayton Laurent (ISV) vs. Kevin Nicolas Espindoza (ARG) - men's super heavyweight (91+kg) third place bout.

    Wow! SAVAGE KO1 by Laurent!!!

A furious series of mostly uppercuts with a few outfielder lobs mixed in by the burly tank of a man drove the Argentine into a corner. Most caught him on the chin but the one that put him down and out was, I believe, one that smashed into his lungs and made it difficult for him to draw a breath even after the stoppage.

Silky Cuban southpaw Lenier Pero Justiz wins super heavyweight gold, despite looking like a light heavyweight.

I'm not surprised at all. I saw it coming. The competition is just too tough and Robeisy has been on the slide since achieving his goal of Olympic Gold.

He hasn't been very successful at the elite level since. He also had been struck off the WSB team for a while because of his unwillingness to train.

He has ATG raw potential, but even if he were to cross over to pros, mentally he won't be there at all and he'll get beaten by a any elite, game fighter.

there will be a cuban in rio they qualified a full time, andy cruz is already qualified at 56kg, maybe they had some special rule allowing defending champions a chance still to qualify

Cuba decided to not accept the spot for Andy Cruz to allow Ramirez an opportunity to qualify this week in Argentina. Ramirez (or perhaps Cruz) has 2 further tournaments in June where he has the opportunity to qualify for the Olympics

..."the" Cuban (singular, not "Cubans"). I was referring to an individual. (Robeisy). :good

Yes Cuba currently have 9 qualified for Rio. Every weight bar bantamweight and one would assume that Ramirez will join the list after the qualifying tournaments in June
