So we may just ending up getting to see Ramírez Carrazana vs. Stevenson in Río. It would be a great way to get a gauge on just how good the kid is. (even if Ramírez Carrazana has lost some hunger and isn't what he used to be)

Have you ever seen someone whose name just doesn't fit him at all. With a name like Shakur Stevenson that just screams out *******, but he seems like the antithesis of a guy like Broner....thankfully.

I have high hopes for him.

I take it Cruz had technically earned his spot, but they're allowing returning champion Ramirez to fight to earn his place for the team, and if successful this will be in the place of Cruz. But if Ramirez is unsuccessful, Cruz still has another tournament by which he could earn his spot.

No. Anybody that secured a spot in the qualifiers is guaranteed in unless they get injured.

isnt cruz already qualified? i think they might have granted ramirez one last chance since he is a defending champion but i dont think he will get another chance now

Correct, he can't bump Cruz. (at least I don't think)

Cruz has already been bumped (by his own National Federation. Cuba have opted not to take the place earned by Cruz to give Ramírez a chance to qualify for Rio. Cruz's place in Brazil has been passed down to the next highest ranked boxer from last season's WSB. Following his loss in these qualifiers I don't know if they intend to send Ramírez to the next two or if they will send Cruz to go try qualify again

There are conflicting reports on when the Asian/Oceanic Qualifying Tournament begins. Some promotional data on the AIBA website lists Wednesday March 23rd, but that may be superseded by other parts of the website listing Friday March 25th.

For the life of me I can't find any time-blocked schedules, or draw sheets, or streaming information. Like they're assuming nobody cares. :conf

(which, statistically, compared with the Americas tourney, is probably true...probably only a few of us die-hard fans that really want to know)
