I had a list of 100 boxing fights I wanted to watch to draw a line on my obsessive research into its history.

I finished that a couple of week ago, now I'm watching all the UFC events.

Watching the final of UFC4 as I type.

I'm gonna watch key Pride events that take place at the same time

I see now why Gracie was such a legend though.

I wouldn't favour Bisping or Woodley over him today. He proved against Hackney he can strike with the best of them, proved against Severn he can wrestle with the best of them and proved against everyone else his submission game is ATG level.

Not really sure I can hold the Sakuraba loss against him due to the inactivity and being past his best.

It's easier than normal, but still there's probably more 50/50 fights this month than in a whole year of boxing.

I'm getting a much better appreciation of the skill involved in MMa since watching these old UFC fights.

Upto UFC 5 where basically everyone has realised how dominant BJJ is and have incorporated it into their training plus the wrestlers have realised how important striking is and Severn became an actual beast.

I'm watching the super fight right now, enthralled even though it's basically 36 minutes of clinching in the guard.
