In my opinion, today's Heavyweight division has reached an era of greatness, or is very close to becoming so. Fury dethroning Klitschko was a historic moment, and a catalyst for a power vacuum that brought the best talent to the foreground. 2017 will be huge for the division as these men will start battling it out for the crown.

1935 was another big year for the division, one of my favorites in history. There was a similar chaotic atmosphere around the title before things had settled down with Louis. Lots of brutal fights and historic matchups took place in pursuit of the crown.

Two great eras, lots of hungry talent. What happens if we match them up?
How do the 2017 Elites do against the 1935 Legends?

    Joe Louis vs. Tyson Fury
    Max Schmeling vs. Wladmir Klitschko
    Primo Carnera vs. Anthony Joshua
    Max Baer vs. Deontay Wilder

    My best guess:

    Louis beats Fury

    Klitschko beats Schmeling

    Joshua beats Carnera

    Baer beats Wilder

I might be a bit premature to pick Joshua over Carnera, but I am feeling bold tonight!

All the newbies beat the 1935 guys because of eras. Will this BS ever stop?

    I like your picks here.
Klitschko Schmeling is a tough one. The Joshua fight this April will tell us more, but he might be too past his prime for Max.
