nobody has pointed out how great 2017 has been and how great it's going to be. We've had matchups Like degale-jack, Crawford-Diaz, Ward-kovalev 2, Joshua-klitschko, haye-bellew, Thurman-Garcia Brook-Spence etc. now we have Little Vasyl and rigondeaux finally negotiating for a fight, we have Crawford talking about 147, we have broner fighting Garcia in a few weeks which is a GREAT FU**ING FIGHT, we also have canelo fighting king GiGi, and in a few weeks we'll most likely get a Spence vs Thurman announcement if neither fighter steps aside for a tune up. 2017 has the best fight schedule I've seen in a few years. What other fights should be made by the end of the year? It seems like the age of the duck is finally over.

    Discuss.

boxing is doing better. but it can do way better. but the fighters and promoters cant do whats best for the fans constantly. so i think it can get slightly better if rigo vs loma get made.

and then if mikey garcia gets past broner then he can be in a good situation

if mikey beats broner he can stay at 140. get pac to fight him or fight bud crawford.
or he can move back down to 135 mikey vs easter jr is the real fight imo but mikey vs linares is legit fight as well.

Your list was pretty darn good and I agree. Get rid of Haye-Bellew of that list though. That fight was a joke when it was made and even more of a joke that Bellew couldn't do anything against a hobbled fighter.

It's been an unbelievable year so far. 2013 I will never forget, one of the very, very best years of boxing I've witnessed.

If you're a fan of lower weight classes, you're about to get a timeless blockbuster in Chocolatito-Rungvisai 2, Estrada-Cuadras and an Inoue fight all in one card.

We're half way through and we're already happy. A lot still to come.

    It really is.
It proves that it is well alive after MayPac.

2013 was stacked with good fights. 2017 might beat it though

You'd rather see Mikey fight easter jr than Crawford?

How can you put Haye-Bellew on that list and leave off Joshua-Klitschko?

Good post, but honestly there's enough good fighters out there that should be a normal year rather than an outlier

2017 will definitely be the outlier of the current decade. Count the matchups.. I didn't even name half of them.

There have been more well-matched top-level fights than there have been in several years. But I'm not going to get too excited and praise promoters for exceeding our low expectations and not screwing us as much as usual. It's only the World Boxing Super Series that I give props to. Because the tounrament concept and a set schedule is what boxing needs. If boxing was a proper sport matches would similarly be made as an evolving league: you win you move up in class to fight a determined opponent, you lose you go down in class to fight a determined opponent, with prize money corresponding to level. With a single governing body running the whole thing, rather than competing interests watching out for themselves. When that happens, and promoters are lined up against the wall... then I'll describe boxing in general as great.

Boxing needs to be cleaned up though, look at SOB/Kovalev cheat fight, that fight was fixed..................SOB can't win a fight without cheating, so clean up boxing. There have been some good fights, some actually that are not fixed, but fans should not allow fixed fights. Notice the house fighter usually wins, no matter what. Look at SOB's low blows, esp. the last one, the criminal Weeks, Bob Bennett lying live on HBO, refused to even review SOB's low blows, etc., clean boxing up or all will be lost to UFC/MMA...........
