Looking at upcoming fights, there's not much to be excited about. Davis v Garcia and Stevenson v Yoshino are the only standouts, and neither are title fights.
We're going to be 1/4 way through the year without many rememberable fights.
What a weird sport, thinking about the "Should happen" fights actually being made is more exciting than the fights on the books.

There have been much worse; see: all three pandemic years. There are many saying it may be the best in a decade, so you probably won't find many agreeing with you. There isn't a huge slate of in-demand fights happening, but - there honestly never are. Years that average multiple championship bangers a month are rare.

Look how many damn good matches there are this month alone? So I couldn't disagree more.

Yeah, he's right, there's loads that's good. There are some really great fights in the immediate. But there are some big fights that aren't coming off at all and it's really frustrating.

Plus, look what's just happened by? Lara-Wood was quality. Azat-Nery was insane. We had that weird war between Ponce and Subriel. Now this weekend who knows how good Brandon Figueroa vs Mark Magsayo could get. In the end, if Brandon Figueroa vs Mark Magsayo delivers that high, high quality combats.

    Not yet. we have time.

There are at least 3 undisputed super fights that could be made this year.

In my opinion, it is the best year since I started following the sport.

I'd say it's off to a strong start, actually. Which is much needed after an abysmal Q4 2022.

The HW division is slow while everyone waits to see what happens with Fury & Usyk, and there's obviously the Crawford & Spence debacle, but imo most divisions are doing okay where there's actual talent.

On the contrary this year has already exceeded last year. We're only in March and we've already had some banger fights such as Beterbeiv vs Yarde, Lara vs Wood, Nery vs Azat, Jack vs Makabu and we still have more to look forward to.

This year will only be even better if we finally have Fury vs Usyk, Bivol vs Beterbiev, and Crawford vs Spence finally official.

It´s been surprisingly fun so far into the year. But the sport has definitely lost a lot of excitement in recent years(shocker, I know!).
But I think there are mainly two issues:
    1. Most networks don´t have a consistently good schedule.
    2. We don´t get a lot of good cards.

Serendipitous. I of course went looking for a clip of the chorus hook for Once in a Lifetime and stumbled upon this instead, and was pleasantly surprised to find Tricky still got it (at least as of 2017).

Come to reflect on it, a collaboration between Talking Heads and Massive Attack would be... well, massive.
