The International Boxing Hall of Fame and Museum announced today the members of the Class of 2023. Living inductees include champions Timothy Bradley Jr. (USA), Carl Froch (UK) and Rafael Marquez (Mexico) in the men’s Modern category; champions Alicia Ashley (Jamaica) and Laura Serrano (Mexico) in the women’s Modern category; matchmaker Brad Goodman (USA), trainer Joe Goossen (USA) and promotional executive Brad Jacobs (USA) in the Non-Participant category; and television executive Seth Abraham (USA) and broadcaster Tim Ryan (Canada) in the Observer category. Posthumous inductees are light heavyweight standout Tiger Jack Fox (USA) and flyweight champion Pone Kingpetch (Thailand ) in the Old Timer category and JoAnn Hagen (USA) in the women’s Trailblazer category. For the class of 2023 he is. I think as far as hall of fame classes go this one is very weak. A class like this you wonder who's left to be inducted in 2024. I like the picks of Marquez and Goosen. Tiger Fox?
As i said before if it was up to me neither Bradley or Froch would be in there, none of them are great fighters in my book. But then again lesser fighters than them have made Hall Of Fame, so i don't really know what the criteria is anymore.
Every year we have this on here, and every year it causes much confusion. It's the hall of fame. It has nothing to do with "greatness" or "deserve".
Yes i'm aware of that with fighters like Mancini, McGuigan, being in the Hall Of Fame. But i've never actually understood the criteria for it, when i think of Hall Of Fame i think of "the best of the best". I think what we did here few months ago was a better criteria for the Hall Of Fame.
