This year alone there’s been quite a number of previously unbeaten champions losing their title and 0. Shavkat Rakhimov (17-0-1, IBF champ) Murodjon Akhmadaliev (11-0, WBA champ) Josh Taylor (19-0, WBO champ) Stephen Fulton (21-0, WBO & WBC champ) Errol Spence Jr (28-0, WBA, WBC, & IBF champ) Sivenathi Nontshinga (12-0, IBF champ) Sunny Edwards (20-0, IBF champ) And then we also have other previously unbeaten fighters who also lost their 0. Jeremias Ponce Rey Vargas Shuichiro Yoshino Joe Joyce Ryan Garcia Vincenzo Gualtieri Shohjahon Ergashev Demetrius Andrade
It’s been a good year of fighters not caring about record but proving themselves against other good fighters.
Haney should be on that list too. Should've lost his unbeaten record and all four of his titles in his backyard to an old well past prime leprechaun he weighed 20lbs + more than and had a near six in reach advantage over. Creep
Honestly, not one person on that list losing should be shocking or crazy to anyone. Taylor overstayed his welcome at 140, Joyce could only block punches from KO artists for so long before it caught up to him and Spence a vicious accident victim looked like a shell of a man going into the ring against Crawford when stylistically even a healthy version would have lost. The rest of those so-called upsets were not hard to predict, in fact I predicted more than half of them losing
It’s a great sign knowing that we are finally seeing more fighters fighting the best and not having to keep latching on to the 0. 2024 will be even better, as @drenlou mentioned. Now we have the following undefeated champions at the moment: Tyson Fury Oleksandr Usyk Terence Crawford Naoya Inoue Junto Nakatani Jaron Ennis Devin Haney Gervonta Davis Shakur Stevenson Rafael Espinoza Dmitry Bivol Artur Beterbiev David Benavidez David Morrell Jesse Rodríguez Jai Opetaia Tim Tszyu Janibek Alimkhanuly Joe Cordina Arsen Goulamirian Artem Dalakian Someone’s 0 will have to go next year.
