    Hey gang,

    This is an interesting crossroads,

I would be especially interested in what @PinoyProdigy thinks of this

I think the h2h championships would benefit from people being able to issue challenges ahead of time in the chance that nobody else challenges, during fight week.

What I mean is, if the H2H champion puts his picks in a couple days before the fight, and nobody challenges him from that point on, I think its fair to allow people to issue challenges ahead of time.

Now maybe we can make a rule where a challenge issued ahead of time can be overruled by a challenge given after the champion has listed his picks.

    Any thoughts on this?

I would say I wouldn’t count the challenge as Chuck hadn’t made his picks yet and it’s assuming what the champion will pick. Of course, the champion making late picks can be a concern and it’s encouraged that they make their picks ahead of time. Maybe, there needs to be a rule with how early the champion needs to make their picks? (If there isn’t one already, I don’t quite remember). But I’m open to the overruling that you mention here, I think that could also work.’

Ah forget it. Sasto should be the champion, correcting everything will be too much of a hassle for Chanox and the bunch.

To play devils advocate, and for the sake of exploring the discussion, I would ask, if its currently fight week (and in this case, the actual day of the fight) for the fight being challenged on, and we know that their challenge can be overruled by anyone who challenges the actual pick after champion makes it, does it really matter if the champion hasnt made their picks yet?

Instead of everyone waiting for whenever the champion happens to put in their picks for the fight, in which this case it was the actual day of the fight, I think its reasonable to allow challengers to issue challenges ahead of time, to help keep the flow of the championships going.... and personally I guess I dont see what difference it makes, especially on weeks where nobody else is challenging anyways.

I think allowing that would open up the action more, making it slightly more fair to the league (not having to check every hour of every day to see if the champ has put in their picks), and with no real drawbacks that I can see.

Of course the other alternative is to say the champion has to put their picks in at least 5 days prior the fight, to give at least a work weeks worth of time for the league to challenge the picks on.

And not doing so would result in a stripped title.

That would involve stripping people, checking dates, ect, ect.... but I suppose thats the other option here.

This was something of a unique situation where I had a strong hunch what Chuck would pick and wasn't planning to be at the computer for a while after so I figured just leave the challenge in the inbox.

It's not something I was planning to do regularly.

That all makes sense and I think this issue has somewhat come to the forefront before when somebody wanted to stack challenges after a challenge had already been made. I think we decided on not allowing that in the past because it went against the spirit of challenging (with an ongoing challenge and unmade picks). I think I’m more in favor of earlier picks, as that was encouraged in the rules, making it official seems more professional and championship-esque, but I am also open to your suggestion as that can also work and may be the people’s choice if I was a betting man haha.
