Anyone else been watching this. You can watch all the fights on the IBA Boxing youtube channel and on Taylor O'Higgins' youtube channel

There's over 100 nations taking part and big money prizes for the winners. A lot of talent on show.

So far, Russia are the standout nation as they are the only nation who hasn't lost a fight yet, all 13 of their boxers have got to the quarter finals, they have a very strong team... Some serious talent there with Ataev, Shumkov, Kool, Rogozin, Gadzimagomedov, Surov, Popov, Bizhamov..

Evgeny Kool has impressively had two 1st round stoppages with body shots

Kool looks like a nightmare to deal with. An aggressive, Soviet style southpaw who likes to throw with power, and he does not shy away from body shots!
    I love him already.

Rogozin is like a little buzzsaw.

Russia's entire 13 man team have all got to the semi finals and medalled. That's crazy and shows how strong their team is right now. Not sure if that's ever even been done before

Ataev looked very good in his QF. Beating the uzbek Akmaljon Isroilov (who won the World Championship Gold in Liverpool earlier in the year), he showed he was a level above.

Yeah Kool has been on a tear. He knocked down and give two standing counts to his QF opponent too.

Rogozin beat the number 1 seed with ease in the QF's. He's some talent for his age. If he turned pro I could see him going through the divisions like an Inoue.

Russia have got 12 of their 13 fighters in the final. One of the strongest amateur teams I've seen.

    in the finals:
    Russia 12
    Uzbekistan 6
    Kazakhstan 4
    Belarus, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan 1

The entire of the finals will be contested by ex Soviet Union nations.

(can't believe the Cubans haven't got anyone in the final. Lopez, Cruz etc all took losses)

Russia topped the table with 7 Golds
    Kazakstan 3, Uzbekistan 2, Azerbaijan 1

Ataev and Shumkov were particularly impressive in their finals and throughout the tournament

Khalolov head movement was phenomenal in the first half of this contest, but Shumkov's will to win and constant pressure got there in the end

@Badbot Rogozin was robbed in the final by corrupt judges (and a corrupt referee)

Look at round 1, he won it very dominantly, it probably should have been 10-8 rounds. But 2 judges scored it for his opponent shockingly, smh

Rogozin was outstanding all the tournament, and they robbed the young 19 year old of Gold

Am I the only person on the forum that's been following this championships lol

@theanatolian @Chuck Norris @Serge @Sandman_ Strange how you all posted a thread for the other World Championships that happened in Liverpool in September., yet not this one despite their being more countries taking part in this one, and the fights were all easily accessible to watch on youtube.

Come on, mate. Keep it serious. No-one's there except Russia & affiliates. I looked at the Australian team when you originally posted & didn't recognise a single name. The Uzbek Super Heavy from Liverpool didn't go & I haven't bothered checking if the Kazakh turned up but I suspect not. If the Uzbeks & Kazakhs don't send their best fighters, it isn't a world championships. Let alone all the other countries.

That's complete bull**** mate. there was well over 100 nations taking part from all parts of the world. It's just the ex soviet union nations were superior (like usual). All the Africans, South Americans etc all went out early.

Abdulmalik Khalolov, Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev, Fazliddin Erkinboev, Javokhir Ummataliev, Akmaljon Isroilov, Turabek Khabibullaev, who all won GOLD in Liverpool, and Hasanboy Dusmatov were all there! Vast majority of their team was their number 1s. So I don't know what you are even talking about, if you bothered to look you'd have clearly have seen Uzbekistan have sent their best fighters.

Cubans legends Arlen Lopez and Julia De La Cruz were there, as was Arzola their number 1 at super heavy

Spains team was fully there with Ghadfa,Reyes,Lozano, Jalidov, Lozano etc. Azerbaijan (Mamedov, Alfonso, Jafarov, Abdullayev, etc) ,Armenia (Chaloyan, Bachkov etc), Brazil (De Olivera) had strong teams.

Kazakhstan have sent mostly their 2nd choices, but it's a very strong boxing nation. So even their 2nd choices would be better than 98% of nations first choices.Assylkulov won gold in Liveepool, Bibossinov & Zhussupov are previous world championship gold medalists too.

I could go on but you seem to have a problem, some anti- Russian sentiment with Russia proving they are the best amateur nation right now, clearly. Considering Uzbekistan dominated in Liverpool, and sent almost their entire best team here again, and now Russia have dominated Uzbekistan.

No, just like the World Championships in Liverpoo, there were teams missing in both, which is a shame. Yet both tournaments were strong, this one being stronger imo. I doubt either would have done much anyway, especially USA as their team is very weak right now.
