So yeah, first amateur world championship headed by the World Boxing. Which are now the legitimate international organization for amateur boxing. The IBA were supposed to host the games in Kazakhstan, but no clue what happened there. I guess there are too busy with their quasi-boxing cards. Anyways the event started today and will continue until next Sunday. Should be entertaining fights and talented fighters along the way. This content is protected
I didn't catch any of this. It wasn't streamed on YT or if it was I couldn't find the stream. They have done so in the past, or at least for the finals All he medalists and medal table here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_World_Boxing_Championships Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan dominated winning 11 and 10 medals respectively, 7 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze and 6-2-3 for Uzbekistan
Caught most of the semis and finals. There were plenty entertaining fights, though the judging was questionable. I was extremely impressed with the Uzbek kid who won the gold at 75kg.
Turkey sent a full 10 man, mens team, as always. A fighter in every division. How did they do? Samet Gumus 50Kg Tolga Kaya 55kg Mehmethan Cinar 60kg Ahmet Pekel 65kg Necat Ekinci 70kg Sultan Osmaanli 75kg Kaan Aykutsun 80kg Samet Ersoy 85kg Emrah Yasar 90kg Mucahit Ilyas +90kg
The Saudi's sent a decent sized team to this tournament. They all got smoked but credit to them for turning up & taking their beatings. Good to see the Kiwis back fighting at international level again too after they failed to qualify anyone for the Olympics. When I looked at the draw & saw one of King Timmy's two main sparring partners for the Beanstalk Fundora fight drawn against a Fijian in the first round I thought that would be good for the Kiwis. Unfortunately, he got beaten & didn't progress. No wonder King Timmy has changed up his team.
