20th Aniversary of Douglas vs. Tyson

Reading that title made me feel older.

But in all seriousness Douglas fought a great fight that night and stopped a man who was considered unstoppable. I still remember the day after the fight I was hoping to catch some still photos of the fight with Tyson winning and I flipped through several channels because I though the local news must have misreported the fight because they had Douglas winning; by knockout.

I think a rematch in late 1990 would have been perfect for Mike if he beat Douglas in devastating fashion.

 

so did buster end up becoming broke over the years? anyone know what he does with himself nowadays?

 

I was 12 years old and my soccer team was in Bakersfield California for the State Cup. Our team was scattered throughout the hotel, but we needed to rest that night for the tournament the next day. My father and I were in our room and noticed a lobby card with a pic of Tyson on it, fighting against a 4 loss opponent on HBO. ****, that fight's on tonight! I remember my father and i saying it should last about one round. I had never seen Tyson fight live before. Well I was able to witness history and cried myself to sleep that night! Damn referee! Damn 8th round!
