    Vargas was supposed to be the next Oscar or Tito. He still got made alot of dough, but like Canelo he fought like a seasoned vet by 21. Tito ruined him tho. Vargas was beating solid fighters like Quartey, Campas, and Marquez. Canelo hasnt faced anything close to that besides a shot Mosley.

    Vargas takes this. By 21, Fernando had already been in the ring and beaten many quality opponents. Canelo doesn't have anything close to the resume Fernando had at 21.

    21 yo Vargas takes 21 yo Canelo Alvarez's head off, but I think Canelo will have much better career length

    might have his hands full with Lara and Cotto but I'd favour him in those fights slightly and he'd destroy the rest of the division.

    Canelo needs to show a lot more before I pick him over a young Vargas.

    LOL, yeah people are picking Vargas based on nostalgia.

    It has nothing to do with their abilities shown in the ring and level of opposition faced.

    Love Canelo, but I would out my money on Vargas....would love to see this hypothetical match.
