21yr old Mike Tyson vs Krusher Kovalev?

Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by WelcomePaladin2, Jul 26, 2015.

  1. How does this play out for talking sakes. Even if it means Tyson drops to 200 pound & Krusher puts on weight.

Can the Russian do it? Not for me, Tyson KO 3

Kovalev is a LHW.... Tyson was a ripped 220 lb killing machine. Obviously he would destroy Kovalev. Silly thread.

This is silly. I'm not sure that Tyson could drop down to 200 and be healthy - and be "Tyson". He would be losing muscle and that's not a good thing to do.

To beat Kovalev best way is pressure him, make him miss and counter. Fight inside away from his long and powerful blows. Back him up so he fights off his back foot so less apt to load up. Tyson will do this and all he needs is one punch.

I actually think there are top heavyweights from the last 20+ years that Kovalev is more than capable of beating. Tyson however isn't one of them. Byrd, Ruiz, Hide I like Kovalevs chances.

Does Sergei get the benefit of modern nutrition and training techniques--which Mike was all too dependent on?

This is goofier than those Lennox Lewis v. s-p-u-nk-y 185-lb men threads.

No, because he's not a modern fighter. What kind of question is that?

He's being sarcastic. There are folks here who think that Tyson would have been as small as Rocky Marciano but for the magical training and nutrition that he must have begun receiving in juvenile lockup.
