Oscar tricked him, Oscar was a scandalous ****ing vato.

Word on the streets was, Oscar ruined him on purpose:shock:

because he couldn't stand the fact Vargas looked and acted more Mexican then Oscar.

Today Oscar is just a big wig promoter and would actually be on his side:D

I think Vargas would quite possibly murder Canelo. No exaggeration.

If he was nurtured as some fighters are now, how things would have been different.

canelo would win. both have good chin and stamina, but overall canelo just seems a good bit faster, more skilled.

For all those thinking that Canelo would beat Vargas.
Vargas took on Tito, DLH, Winky and Quartey around Canelos same age. All HOF most ATG. Just think about that.

Canelo won't even fight Lara, but you're staying he'll beat prime Vargas?? Jump your gay dick riding asses off of the irishman's dick. YDKSAB.

Vargas at that point was an excellent fighter. He'd just beaten Winky (albiet in a very close, disputed decision) and Ike Quartey. He was a big, strong 154lb'er with some nice boxing skills. His performances belied his inexperience - he was a pretty well-rounded fighter at that point who could mix up his attack and was heavy-handed.

I don't follow the consensus that he was thrown into the Tito fight too early - his weight and injury problems meant he was never going to be destined for a long career. He was better than the vast majority of world-class boxers are at that age. I just think he came up against a better fighter.

I'm quite confident in picking him over Canelo, who I don't think has any advantages over him.

They're all <21 and have not been watching fights >5 years.

Vargas would quite possibly murder Canelo in the ring.

Home boy? Extraneous term of endearment.

Nevertheless, thankfully I don't need to watch fights or engage in discussions regarding boxing with you.

Vargas would beat Canelo (I think Canelo has yet to reach his ceiling though; in a few years, ask this question again and I might favor him against Vargas), probably by TKO in the 5th-9th round.

Canelo might have a shot if he drills Vargas with a nutshot the second he feels in danger, and then continues to mix in an occasional low blow with his body attack.:yep

Watching the Vargas-Trinidad fight still pisses me off. I wasn't even a fan of Vargas (I was ecstatic when DLH knocked him out), but I still think he would have taken Trinidad out in the middle rounds had it not been for him absorbing that huge low blow right after he knocked down Trinidad. That changed the momentum of the fight; he'd hurt Trinidad, the tide was turning in his favor, and then Trinidad killed the rally and regained control with the low blow. Don't forget, even while the guy who gets hit with a low blow gets recovery time, the guy who delivered the low blow effectively gets a breather as well until the action resumes. That timely low blow saved Trinidad's bacon in my opinion.

Both these guys are shockingly similar....I'd have to side with Vargas on this one I never make comparisons when determining fantasy match ups but would Vargas have been put on ***** street by Cotto's brother a natural LightWW.
