    Prime Vargas was elite................... Vargas Brutal KO 5, had one of the most underrated jabs and highly superb boxing skills that only few fighters possessed at that time

    I can't believe idiots actually picking Canelo, just goes to show they are new to the sport, and are casual fans, **** is light-weight pissing me off

    I think they will keep Canelo away from Erislandy Lara for the same reasons Vargas should of been kept away from Trinadad.

    Fernando Vargas had a questionable chin against power punchers.
    Canelo's left hook would have put him to sleep.

    Didn't he lose every fight by getting KTFO just about???

    Vargas was cool, but whats so cool about being fed to the lions at 22 and ruining his career they cashed him out early, he had the swag to keep going for a while, but they shot him.

    Canelo is not taking the same road. JR was once protected now he is taking on P4P top 5 fighter and is not much of a huge under dog... canelo is about to face cotto late this year or 2013.... so Canelo ain't far off.
