22 years ago: Faumuina To'aletai David Mafaufau Sita "Tuaman" Tua vs. Michael Lee "Double M" Moorer

The guys face at 2:00 in the video always gets me. Clearly he wasn’t expecting the fight to end this quickly.

 

IDK that Moorer fares a whole lot better even on his best day ... Bert Cooper was able to get inside of him & do a lot of damage before Moorer pulled the fight out w/ a desperation flurry.

In fact, Moorer was very lucky not to be stopped in the very 1st round in almost the exact same manner.

Moorer just wasn't the same after Foreman.

 

The Cooper fight I referenced was before Foreman.

 

I know, lol. I'm a big Moorer fan- I'm talking about how Michael was able to make it out of unlucky positions whenever he was in trouble pre Foreman. Cooper, Stewart, Holyfield, etc.

I do think I sped read through your post though, which I apologize for. I see now that you think that he wouldn't have done much better if it was an earlier version of Moorer. I personally think that Michael just lost that fire that made him able to come back when he was younger.

 

Given that Tua’s full name as spelled out here uses literally half the alphabet, I’m willing to spot Moorer a few more M’s to even it up.

 

Moorer looked so slow and lethargic . Like he went into that fight cold and not warmed up

 

I remember watching this...he did it with a right hand, as I recall. I just remember being shocked by that.
