Tyson fought Ruddock 22 years ago today. 18/03/91.

I recently watched both fights. I thought Tyson looked pretty good in both fights. In the rematch, after the first 3-4 rounds he wasn't moving his head as much as he should have been. Richie Giachetti was giving Tyson some good advice between rounds of both fights. He asked Tyson not to load up with punches and use the jab as often as he could when trying to get into range.

What are your thoughts on Richie Giachetti as Tyson's trainer around this time and what did you think of both fights with Ruddock?

Giachetti told him the right things in the corner. Tyson became more or less a bomber around that time. Depending more on his power and less on setting the table.

Tyson had two hands that were equally dangerous and he kept Ruddock off balance even at 75% of what he had been.

Tyson/Ruddock fights were a lot of fun. Good for boxing.

That Tyson destroys every active heavyweight today in no less than 5 rounds

That was a titanic battle between the two best heavyweights in the division

Ruddock broke Tyson's ribs with an uppercut to the jaw (I think it was the second fight).

It was a good fight, and one of Tyson's better efforts. I remember Tyson gave Ruddock a free shot on his chin! But Ruddock wasn't among the top ten of the decade in the 1990's.

As for Tyson's chin, he was visibly wobbled by Bruno, and Counted out vs Douglas. Ruddock was game, but he didn't land enough to test Tyson's whiskers throughout the course of the fight.
