I shied away from "Express" because that denotes career momentum... :yep

But still, the man deserves a little mention. Supposedly he's retiring after the loss to Santos?

Well if so - happy trails, hombre...and thank you! :good

38-6-1 (24); 2-time WBA champ (147, 154); action fighter; solid ham and eggs - not great in any one area but not below average in any one either; working stiff; charitable, humble and classy guy.

He is a great guy and I've had the opportunity to talk to him a few times. I really think he's retiring this time. He's been beat up a little his last few times out.

    Food for thought:

He is the only world champion on record to hold a full-time job at the same time.

I don't know. Back to back TKO losses? He's pretty much done at least as far as title contention, unless he moves back down in weight (if he can, and even then it could be a struggle). I hope he's got enough put aside to walk away comfortably.

No way he can go back down in weight, he was killing himself to make it. I think he's done. He actually has a great job working as a clerk in a court. At least he has something to go to.

Yep...and two titles to his credit, losses to some great opposition, overall respectable career; no shame in calling it a day.

lets see: never really deserved to get ANY kind of title shot.

losses to santos and simms showed his real LACK of class.

spend most of his "prime" bitching over contracts and NOT FIGHTING!!

all in all: a guy who got the maximum out of boxing..........more than he really deserved.

good for him so i cant really shed any tears of him calling it quits.

I always liked Rivera. His win over Garcia to win his belt was a hell of a fight to watch. Always wish him the best.

From all accounts, he's a good guy and a hard worker in and out of the ring. Best of luck to him in his future!

try toning it down a bit man. there's no time constraints, keep swinging that shovel slow and steady, and you're bound to strike comedy paydirt at some point. :good
