How about it. Same night as a HBO double header. Alexander Povetkin vs David Haye in Germany. Tomasz Adamek vs Chris Arreola in US. Then you have a final in the US. New Jersey, LA, Vegas depending on the winner.
it would be seen too much as a anybody except the brothers championship which essentially is what it would be Its a cyclical thing for me, just because no one is good enough to beat them atm, sooner or later a 6'4/5 american will come along and become the heavyweight champ and then everyone in america will love boxing again. i think
Thats a good way of getting American fans interested in heavyweight boxing again. Hype it up I see what Pathmanc is saying but in a way its the Klitschko's which are kind of ruining heavyweight boxing by being so dominant. There is no interest in them in the states and their fights are becoming more tedious due to the nature of their opposition. It needs something to shake it up.
Here you go, the new Corrie Sanders, the unbeaten KO king David "El Nino" Rodriguez. I think he is actually ranked top 15 by at least one of the bodies so a fight with a Klitschko isn't that far off. He did not beat Arreola convincingly it was a close fight and very good to watch. also Arreola has improved since then. Chambers already lost more convincingly to Povetkin. Plus all 4 have have won fights on US TV.
Agree on the first bit I bolded, not on the second. He's lost weight but he's pushing his punches and hasn't improved his movement. But I like the sound of this - it would be all action.
Exactly. Both are good fights and the final would be good whatever fight it is. Arreola, Adameck & Haye have nothing to lose at this stage of there careers and I think Povetkins team would fancy there chances.
Adamek could and should drop down to CW where he will be among the elite of CW whereas he is a mere contender around HW. He just dont have pop in his punches at that weight so he needs to drop pronto. Replacing Adamek with Helenius in that tourny would be a better proposition imho.
Adamek could beat Povetkin for his "World title", no reason to drop down yet. Only a few months ago Atlas was talking about wanting to match Povetkin against Adamek. Before Adamek signed the Klitschko deal.
Agreed. Other than the Klitschkos there isn't anyone out there that you'd make a favourite to beat Adamek. That's despite being nothing more than just a basic, turns up in shape, ticks most boxes fighter at heavyweight. It goes without saying that he's a better fighter at cruiser but when you can beat most heavies and make more cash why stay down there?
