    '24/7' brings the entertainment

Like I am sure many of you did, I spent the past two Sundays at 10 p.m. watching the first two episodes of HBO's four-part "Mayweather/Hatton 24/7" reality series, which is designed to pump up interest in the Dec. 8 HBO PPV fight between undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather and undefeated junior welterweight champion Ricky Hatton. Here are 10 thoughts on the terrific series:

    1. Whereas Mayweather drove last spring's "24/7" episodes leading up to his fight with Oscar De La Hoya, Hatton is driving this bus. We already know Mayweather from the last series and not much has changed. He's still arrogant. He's still over the top. He still has issues with his estranged father, Floyd Mayweather Sr. He still likes to do road work in the middle of the night. He's still ridiculous with the way he shows off his money. He still trains hard. Hatton, however, is more interesting because he's fresh, he has a better personality than De La Hoya and he's a far more likeable person than Mayweather.

    2. Floyd is rich. OK, we get it. Let's move on.

    3. Hatton apparently has no problem flashing his tush for the camera.

    4. I actually watched Roger Mayweather shop for Thanksgiving groceries. Is this what my life has come to?

    5. As much as I love "24/7," I wish there were more new episodes of Larry David's brilliant "Curb Your Enthusiasm" in the time slot "24/7" took over. "Curb" just finished its best season ever as far as I am concerned.

    6. Bet I can guess what Mayweather gave out at his house for Halloween: Laffy Taffy.

    7. How far has Carlos Baldomir's career fallen? The former welterweight champion, from whom Mayweather easily took the title via shutout decision last fall, is now one of his main sparring partners. I didn't realize he was in Mayweather's camp for the fight and liked that HBO got some footage of him in the camp.

    8. The "24/7" theme music is the best on television and HBO's production values are second to none. It is a beautiful show just to look at.

    9. Hatton, with his whole country of Great Britain backing him, has gotten off some great lines about Mayweather so far, including: "I've got 33,000 people who want to come and watch me. He's got 33," and "He's a good fighter. Everyone knows he's a good fighter. But he doesn't have to keep telling us."

    10. Who knew Roger was such a philosopher? How about this brilliant observation when asked why his nephew continues to fight despite such wealth: "You say Floyd got it all, why should he still be hungry? Why does Bill Gates still make them f------ computers? He's got about $50 billion. So tell me, why? That's why Floyd is still hungry."

Dan is one of the best Boxing Writers out there - how can you not like him? His P4P List and Top Ten for each division is pretty good. I've been following him since he was at USAToday.

Which Boxing Writer do you like best? And did they actually Box?

    9. Hatton, with his whole country of Great Britain backing him.

Why do Americans always refer to Great Britain as a country??? England is a country. Great Britain is the official name given to the two kingdoms of England and Scotland, and the principality of Wales.

Sorry but that bugs me. That is all.

Because we see things as they really are, unlike some immature pseudo nationalists in Great Britain who want to think of Scotland and Wales as seperate entities.

Jason is right. Great Britian is the nation after King James' unification.

    Sorry Scots.

Rich Dam, I think you are thinking of the UK more than GB. The UK is Scots, England, Wales and Norn Ireland. So, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, ie The United Kingdom of the countries GB and NI.

Geographically, not politically (devolution changed nothing in that area).

Some official channels will consider them to be 2 countries but most don't.

Personally, I consider them to be 2 countries.

Honestly I dont like any of them. The stuff I read from them is garbage. I like reading what people post on here better than the **** they come up with. Especially from the guys in here who actually step in the ring.
