Who else is going to be staying up or waking up early to check this out? It could be a nice little war as there's been a bit of bad blood brewing between the two Aussie sluggers.

Shane Cameron (who decided to reinvent himself in a new division following the brutal knockout loss at the hands of David Tua) is in one of the supporting bouts, making his Cruiserweight debut against the capable Daniel Ammann.

You can still bet Vcash on the main event for a few more hours: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?p=7358131

I'll be asleep, but after reading that Briggs pretty much refused to make weight, I only can assume he's not in the shape needed to be at all competitive with Green.

And honestly I don't wanna see Green brutalizing Briggs terribly, boxing isn't patty cake I know, but I just see it being extra sad in the ring today. And this coming from a die hard Gatti fan is saying alot. I just think a guy in Briggs, who already has known pronounced physche damage because of boxing, getting in the ring (probably out of shape) as pretty much a sacraficial lamb, against a big puncher, is painful to see.

No dude, he MADE WEIGHT. :deal

He weighed in under the cruiserweight limit, which is 200 lbs.

There is a cruiserweight title on the line.

Danny Green, the champion, tried to stipulate that the challenger come in at a made-up catchweight of Green's choosing. Briggs basically accepted the terms and then non-verbally told him to get bent by showing up on the scales at a legitimate cruiserweight mass...but a bit over what Green wanted.

It's head games, which makes me think Paul is really in this.

WTF, I didn't think they were fighting for another couple months. How long did this fight take to make?

Oh yeah, I definitely won't be tuning in. :tired

Yea IB, I'm positive a read an article talking about it (at think at the scene) being a catchweight which Briggs did not make, but Green accepted the fight anyway.

But I don't think the article said whether or not the trinket was still on the line.

I'm not doubting you, I just read the article today.

The "catchweight" was requested by Green, not mandated by the IBO.

In a sense, yes, Briggs failed to honor the agreed upon weight.

In another sense, though, he also made weight.

It's a matter of perspective, really.

If you think catchweights are bull****, and that divisional titles should never be defended at a catchweight below that division's limit - as I do - then Briggs did absolutely nothing wrong.

:good Got you. I didn't know it was all good on the IBO side of the house.

Well hopefully I'm wrong and Briggs is in good enough shape to keep it competitive.

IBO cruiserweight champ Danny Green weighed in at 185lbs and challenger Paul Briggs came in at 192.7lbs, well above the catch-weight both fighters agreed to of 185lbs. Green was not happy about the situation and is determined to punish Briggs.

Green said "Yeah of course, I could pull the fight right now. It's within my right to say 'go lose the weight'. But do you know what, I don't care. Somebody get him a hamburger, he's going to need some energy.

When you come in at three kilograms over a weight that was designated nine weeks ago, it's very unprofessional, it's very disrespectful and ... tomorrow night I'm going to punish Paul Briggs, I'm going to punish him bad. I'll take him at 97 kilograms, I don't care what weight he is. I can't get angry. If I get angry, that's when I get open to wearing shots. It's just unprofessional, disrespectful, but that's cool. When the bell goes tomorrow night, punch by punch I'll pay that disrespect back, with interest, too.

I'm just focusing in on my fist landing cleanly to his liver, to his sternum, to his shoulders, to his chin, to his ears, to his face, everywhere. Just visualising the punishment. I think by the time the fight's finished, whether it goes 12 rounds or one round, he's going to be a very sore and sorry person."

Meanwhile, Briggs says he made weight considering the cruiserweight limit is 200lbs.

"The cruiserweight limit is 91kg," explained Briggs. "This meeting halfway in between weights is something he's picked up off Roy Jones Jr. I haven't done anything wrong today. I've trained hard, I've come here, I've made weight (under the cruiserweight's maximum). Easy as that. I'm not into all the 'I'll meet you halfway and we'll meet at 83-point this and that'. Weight's cruiserweight, end of story. You want to fight me at cruiserweight, fight me at cruiserweight, that's it. I'm not making any excuses, there's no excuses to be made here."

I am a huge Briggs fan. I hope he keeps Danny honest for long enough to hrut him.

I am a little frightened though. Danny Green has NEVER looked in better shape.

i hate the bloke for cherry picking but will be absolutely ecstatic if BRIGGS catches him and starches him

The fight is a joke, there is no way I'm getting it on, $50 for this ****, briggs has not been in the fight for 3 and half years and give it away because medical problems, this fight should not be happening, Briggs has had only 2 months to get ready for this fight
