As far back as December 2nd we got official word from a a very reliable source named George Peterson that the fight would not happen. Mr. Peterson is the trainer/manager of Paul Williams and works closely with advisor Al Haymon who advises Floyd and Williams. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out where Mr. Peterson learned that the Pac-Duckweather negotiations were all a sham and the idea of the fight was an illusion. Read on...] You decide for yourself if this VERY connected boxing insider/source knows something about Pacquiao vs. Floyd or is he off on a tangent? Keep in mind this source is directly connected to a key figure with Team Mayweather (no I dont mean cheerleader Leonard Ellerbe) via a different top champion also associated with the key figure. BoxingInsider: Who do you see winning Pacquiao vs. Floyd? Source: Its not gonna happen. BoxingInsider: You dont think so? Source: No. BoxingInsider: Why not? Source: Its not a fight thats meant to be made. That fights just not meant to be made. BoxingInsider: Why not? Everyone wants to see it? Source: A lot of people want to see it but theyre not gonna see it. BoxingInsider: Mayweather doesnt want it does he? Source: Ah, that fight is not gonna be made. BoxingInsider: Youre saying it with a lot of certainty in your voice. Source: Yes sir. Yes sir. If it was gonna be made it would be made by now. BoxingInsider: Who doesnt want to pull the trigger? (I know Mayweather is the chicken here, just want to try to get more from the source.) Source: I just dont see it being made. BoxingInsider: You know something but wont say it. Source: [Smiles]. BoxingInsider: Who would win, if it was made? Just for fun? Source: Its not gonna be made. That fight is not gonna be made. BoxingInsider: I hear you, its not even worth wasting the energy on a fight that is fantasy. Source: Its not gonna happen. No. No. Mayweather is looking to fight somebody else right now. He just doesnt want to risk losing that 0. You know who he wants to fight? Matthew Hatton. If we see him sign to fight Matthew Hatton, I think we can all see what really went down.
I don't think he will fight Hatton. He would get butchered even more. I said a long time ago that I didn't think this fight was happen. Just did not see it happening. People said no no, "It's too big a fight" and stuff like that. It's going to happen, there's way too much money. Man, many fights in history that could've been big haven't happened. I'm disappointed in Floyd, I'm disappointed in Manny. Manny should've called his bluff. The negotiations were way too drawn out, way too trivial. Not sure if this source is accurate, as if Floyd had zero intentions to fight. But all I'll say is that I figured this awhile ago. Right after Cotto I just didn't see this fight being made. Guess I was right.
So who can mayweather fight next? I don't know how he can salvage his reputation except by fighting a top 10 guy.
I remember this article, it was shot down very quickly. But man this Scoop Malinowski has it out for Floyd. Just like Pete, I kinda had a bad feeling especially after Sr. started the "we wont fight him" campaign. Floyd needs to fight Mosley/Berto winner..I mean who else is there for him.
I dont think theres anyone for him to fight to be honest. People were really looking forward to seeing him fight manny because manny had a chance of winning any other fight he takes will have the shadow of pacquiao hanging over it imo manny on the other hand can go about his business has usual but will have a certain degree of stigma about the, baseless imo, steriod accusations. hope they sort this fight out.
I don't know, but fighting MH will get him torn a new *******. I just don't think he would go through with that.
Pretty much. Mosley/Berto winner, or PW maybe since he's coming back down to 147. Anyone else would be pretty disappointing. But Manny is fighting Paulie, which should disappoint even the Manny fans. But who knows... we'll see who this all concludes.
I don't think PW vs MP would be that great, but if he fights Paulie he will obviously win and look a little better come election time.
But Manny has so much more options, I mean he can even fight a Soto. Bradley...And since he is GBP co promoted, I see him fighting Mosley before Floyd.
I was talking about Floyd's options now, which is what you responded to me about. Right? That it wouldn't happen? That is true. Which makes Floyd's future and legacy all the more unfortunate for boxing fans and his fans. Manny has more options. Though, it seems he's fighting Paulie which is about as low risk as you can go.
I'm not sure why that is, but I can surmise that given this short of a lead time, fighting someone the likes of a Bradley would require a bit more training time and preparation. That is given the amount of time lost with this whole fiasco.
If floyd fights Matt Hatton then its a confirmation that floyd never really wanted to fight pac... didn't hopkins mentioned a couple of weeks ago that this fight won't happen and that floyd 'might' fight hatton next.
