honestly I did not think the first match was particular good fight. is best we have in heavyweight for a while now so & important champion match. so will watch. but not a worth 27 pound to view this live I think Usyk wins & Joshua puts up good fight but also maybe this could go be a stinky also. could be dull match Less good even than first..this boxers both not getting any younger
For DAZN fights, this is true (Benn v CEJ). Spoke yesterday to the guy who runs the City Centre bar I frequent for the boxing and he hopes that something can / will be sorted with DAZN and the pub industry for future fights, it has to for DAZN to be able to showcase to a wider audience. Whilst the bar I frequent doesn't do this, they acknowledge that others do mirror from the DAZN phone app to laptop to huge screen. Bizarrely though, the "higher ups" (suits) have refused to sanction showing the AJ / Usyk fight. We are both baffled as to why, even if the price on SKY has gone up (think it has), the amount of punters who pack the place out both downstairs and upstairs pays for it.
No idea, I was just told the price had gone up but even so, we were both shocked that the higher ups refused to sanction showing the fight.
This one is £295 if purchased before 11 August, £325 afterwards and doesn’t seem to make a difference how big the pub is. Not that bad really if you can pack the place out I suppose. I imagine a lot of the chains probably get a discount for purchasing across multiple venues.
Ah that's not as high as I thought it would go. Not great for the little pubs I guess but I've been to plenty who certainly bend the rules.
Ticket sales look pretty poor. This content is protected The only thing I can assume is that most Saudis turn up at the gate.
Still no news about US TV ? It's 2 days since Eddie Hearn said that within 24 hours we will announce the US TV partner for Usyk vs Joshua II ? It is very, very strange that 6 days before what is described by many as the biggest boxing fight in 2022, there is no agreement in place ?
I suspect DAZN will do what Amazon do for the Premier League games- have a pop up satellite channel for pubs that means there are no connection issues.
At least last time (with Ruiz) there was a pretty quick turnaround and there was the element of ‘was it a lucky win’ etc. Nowadays Joshua fights once every 10/11 months and handily lost the first fight. It’s only Matchroom’s insistence on rematch clauses which mean we have to sit through it again 11 months on.
