It means you go all the way down then all the way up for 1 rep, not hang halfway then go up, then half down, then up etc.
20 pullups at once is good. If you can do the 100 pullup pyramid, you're in pretty good shape for your weight (as far as your back is concerned). The pyramid goes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. I did that at first and now I do 100 pullups during every home workout. I do 10 rounds of Boxing and do a set of 10 pullups after each round, along with a couple of other bodyweight calisthenics. Pullups - palms away (work the back more, and the biceps second) Chinups - palms facing (works bicep more, and the back second)
It depends how you do them and what you weigh. I'm **** at them either way, but at least I allow my arms to fully extend in between each rep, unlike every other person at my gym. I can do three times as many with my palms facing me (i.e. 3).
I've just done that piramid making one minute breaks till I reached 9. I was pretty tired and I've started to make some bigger breaks (5-6 minutes) till 5 and then I've made 10 at once (4+3+2+1 at once).
And so do most other modern boxers. Placing a medicine ball between the knees is much more difficult. Another thing these modern boxers do is grip the bar with the thumb. Get the thumbs out and the difficulty increases yet again.
Jeez. 25 is pretty decent. I'm on about 15/20 at the moment. Just re introduceing them to my routine after wrist injury.
That's a chin up, a push up is with your palms facing the other way. Chin ups: 25x isn't a very good result, it's ok. Pull ups: 25x would be very good.
I just got back from the gym. I can do 6 chin ups and 2 pull ups. It's **** but it's still double what I thought I could do.
