    He was 37 and even in poor nick he was smashing prime 31 year old Vitali's brains in with uppercuts, giving better than he got until the cut made things academic. It was perfectly reasonable for him to ride off into the sunset on that high note with nothing left to prove. Only insecure fanboys were demanding the rematch.

    I’m not a VK fanboy. I like both Fighters. I thought it was a great fight. Would have loved to see more. I think it is fair to say they were both smashing each others brains in. It’s understandable the old, but far from finished, Lewis didn’t fancy a rematch, but who wouldn’t have tuned in? It’s highly possible Lewis would have won the rematch, but we didn’t get to see how it would have played out.
