ShoBox: Freddy Hernandez vs. Mike Anchondo & Luis Franco vs. Wilton Hilario RBR

It's showtime in 20 minutes.

 

Round 1

Franco is bossing Hilario around with hard double and triple hooks, dropping a few to the body. Hilario looks relaxed behind his high guard but is getting batted around. Finally a few slapping shots to the body from Hilario. Franco continues to hammer him repeatedly in combination, with bad intentions on everything. Franco now begins to use a jab and slips Hilario's. Jay Nady warns Hilario for leading with his head. Hilario shells up as Franco begins to pound on him again and this time Wilton wilts under the power, backed into the ropes and appears to be in big trouble. Saved by the bell, but not before a second warning for headbutts and a warning for low blows.

10-9 Franco

 

Round 2

Franco changes it up now and starts throwing the 1-2, sometimes doubles the jab before the cross or following with an uppercut. Hilario is warned again for going low and continual blatant headbutts. Franco keeps pressing and punching and blocking virtually all of Hilario's leaping shots. Nady tries to break up a clinch and has to scream "STOP!" at Hilario after asking him twice to do so normally. Nady is getting pissed off and might disqualify Hilario just out of spite if he loses his professional cool. Hilario tries to slug in the pocket with Franco but his wider punches are taking longer to get there and having less effect. Franco leans his shoulder into Hilario's chest and pushes off to flurry. Hook to the hip by Hilario. Franco with a nice uppercut and hook combo. Hilario starts a combo right at the bell and Nady again has to get between them.

20-18 Franco

 

Round 3

Busy punching by Franco. Hilario waits his turn and starts throwing little inverted rainbows on the inside, only getting a couple off at a time before Franco turns it back on. Hilario has a point taken away for his constant fouls (low blows). Hilario has his stance creased by a right hand that pushes his head like a button. Hilario walks into a stiff jab that stops him in his tracks. Hilario is now the aggressor but not landing any punches. Hilario again punches during a break but Nady lets it slide. Franco has his hand low and is popping jabs and sort of taunting Hilario. Franco clinches and shoves Hilario to the ropes.

10-8 Franco

30-26 Franco

 

You're not the least bit impressed with this little Cuban? We already knew Hilario was junk - at least, anybody who saw him exposed by Honorio.

 

Round 4

Hilario is walking into constant showers of leather. Franco is now boxing on the move and no longer trying to break Hilario, just picking him off and content to to the counter-punching dance. Hilario gets a bit wild trying to hurt Franco after some taunting but misses badly.

40-35 Franco

 

Round 5

Hilario jabbing and looping the overhand right, leading but not landing. Hilario does begin to throw hard shots to the body but even those are caught on the elbows for the most part. Hilario's head shots crash very softly on the gloves; they're arm punches. Hilario needs his targets to be slow-moving and at arm's length. Franco keeps touching Hilario up on the inside and scoring points.

50-44 Franco

 

Round 6

Franco checks Hilario into the ropes and works him over. Hilario waits for a break and then starts firing from both chambers with looping torpedoes from long range and does slow Franco down for a moment. Franco gets right back on top of him and keeps leaning against him, trapping him against the ropes and working his hands while moving his head side to side. Hilario goes unwarned for intentional butts.

60-53 Franco

 

It's tough to say because Hilario is such a goon offensively. He's barely taken any punishment except to the gonads or from Hilario's skull.

 

Round 7

Franco wrestles Hilario right into a corner and keeps flurrying. Hilario again weaves on the break looking for an opening for a looping right hand. Hilario makes it a bit rough while resisting being pushed across the ring and lands a few uppercuts. There's a bit of trash talking at the bell.
