Judging by the pace in the championship rounds this was an exciting brawl all the way. Soto is not looking very sharp in the 12th, however. He ate a lot of leather that took his balance and slipped a few times. Monterrosa appears ordinary and seems to have been winning the late moments.

We'll see how the judges score it...

Well there's another thread "Arce/Soto Results" where somebody says the fight's over (and it shows the result if you want to look).

On WBC's website it's just starting now.

    That's OK; I'll do a RBR for Arce-Parra anyway.

It will be interesting to do so knowing the end result.

How much TECATE have you had? :ibutt

    Round 1

El Travieso jabs with the rrrrrregularity of an exceptionally healthy septuagenarrrrrrrian, and gets into a funky rhythm, popping his shoulders like they were maize, and drizzling some artificial butter on them. :pop

Parra is maintaining a Philly shell as he turns the corners, moving around on the outside and changing direction more often than a New York cabbie who "knows shortcuts".

Arce is one coy suitor but Parra is playing hard to get. Arce tells him to shake his tailfeather, shake his tailfeather. Parra punches him in the face and runs away. Typical woman.

Oh, I might be drunk. This RBR is not up to my usual standards of professionalism.

    Round 2

Parra uses more herky-jerky lateral movement than the titular character in Pong. Arce is trying to hook him in the body and has a bit of a falling down problem. Maybe he's been enjoying the sponsors in the locker room. CON CARACTER!

Parra is awfully huggy for someone who isn't ready to commit.

Arce says he just wants to talk it out, but Parra knows of his abusive past and goes out for some air and to consult his girlfriends.

    Round 3

Arce hooks and continues to threaten with that favored punch, feinting Parra into a full retreat. BIG right hand from Arce knocks Parra into the ropes and nearly down. Parra uses good survival skills, faking Arce out with a quick step to the left and then circling quickly around to the right. Parra is 100% committed to blocking and staying out of range now. Arce is trying to walk him down to finish what he started but doesn't have the quickness of feet. Parra starts to land counter jabs on Arce and looks to be in no great trouble anymore. Arce misses a wild hook. Parra lands counter rights and clinches.

I'm a bit buzzed and already know the result, so I haven't been too keen on trying to focus on picking a winner each round, but the Fox Sports Espanol commentators have it like this:

    1. 10-9 Arce
    2. 10-9 Parra
    3. 10-9 Arce

...and that doesn't raise any indignant hackles for me, just on instinct, so...

    Round 4

Arce keeps trying to blast his way inside but is about as effective as Shane Mosley was in actually landing cleanly. The difference here is that Lorenzo Parra is doing less holding than Sergio Mora, and when he's moving he's also countering.

    I'll say even through 4.

    Round 5

Arce is looking very limited. He hasn't fought anyone who just outright refused to engage since Julio Ler; and he apparently didn't learn anything from that fight about the need to use his planes of movement to make up for his lack of foot speed in attempting to cut the ring off. Parra jabs and moves and is simply outscoring the cowboy by getting hit less than he "hits" (even if his landed hits are only little love-tap jabs). Arce slugs his way forward and Parra grabs him and pushes him away. Left hook to the body by Parra. Arce misses a hook, then misses a lunging 1-2. Parra is full of pep, and Arce is making him look like Pep. OUCH Looping right uppercut bangs Arce on the chin. Arce is determined, coming forward, but for naught.

    48-47 Parra
