I didn't know it was 27 years ago today, but once I seen 'THE WAR' in the thread title, I knew.

Couldn't you have waited atleast three years? 27 years is hardly significant, especially for such a grossly overrated fight.

I hate to say it,but GYOW is right. This is a very overrated fight even though I hold the protagonists in the highest regard.
I showed my boy this fight a few years ago and told him many people think it's the best fight ever.He was terribly underwhelmed.Barrera-Morales 1 was a different story when he watched that.
It's hardly an unpleasant memory though.

Its not just about the fight itself, the build up and where the fighters were in their respective careers at the time of the fight is what made it such a classic.(that coupled with the explosive few rounds)

This is the best 3 round fight in the history of the sport. Kelly Hamed is next.

Marvellous Marvin Hagler Says He Can Still Feel The Punches Tommy Hearns Hit Him With - Over 25 Years Later!

"Today’s fighters are not as hungry as they used to be. They don’t seem to sacrifice as much as we did. When we fought, it was straightforward, you fought the best, no ducking, no playing games. The only question afterwards was ‘who’s next?’"... Hagler
