This is on about an hour delay (due to running against ShoBox).

    Round 1

Gonzalez fights tall, circling at distance and jabbing with a few step-through uppercuts mixed in. Bolanos turns and punches with him, ripping off a few nice hooks and forcing him to trade body shots with both landing pretty hard and taking it as well as they dish it out. Gonzalez is a little more effective from the outside.

    10-9 Gonzalez

    Round 2

Gonzalez steps in with a low-leaning 1-2 to the body and quickly straightens up as Bolanos mounts a counter attack. Gonzalez blocks a series of corkscrew punches and goes down, from a slip. Bolanos is stalking the taller man, thrusting up a high jab and winging long hip-level body shots with both hands. Gonzalez boxes smoothly - backing up, circling, and employing his reach with the jab. Good 1-2 from Gonzalez (right jab to the face, left cross to the chest). Bolanos is hurt and Gonzalez jumps on him with a vicious sequence of punches from mid-range. Bolanos survives and spins Gonzalez to the ropes and fights himself right back into the contest. Bolanos just keeps punching at the head of Gonzalez, a bit noodle-armed but shutting Gonzalez down.

    10-9 Gonzalez, 20-18

    Round 3

Bolanos walks forward with his face unprotected as he digs to the body and has it ripped with a counter uppercut. Gonzalez continues to land hard shots while backing up using his long arms and bending his knees for some leverage. Bolanos comes on strong about a minute in and has some really good moments, ducking under the fists of Gonzalez and landing some nice uppercuts through the middle and hooks to the body. Gonzalez tries to wage war on the inside, landing a few uppercuts of his own and actually doing fairly well against the shorter and more compact Bolanos. Gonzalez blocks several punches and answers with a single uppercut. Gonzalez goes back to circling on the outside and Bolanos gets his feet positioned right inside Gonzalez's. Bolanos isn't very accurate but he's persistent and tough.

    30-27 Gonzalez

    Round 4

Noe is wading right in and getting beaten to the punch by the longer and quicker boxer, but keeps pressing on despite having his face lit up. Bolanos walks Gonzalez into a corner and tries to paint all over the skinny canvas but finds it hard to score cleanly when the wiry-limbed Gonzalez folds himself up. Gonzalez is still finding opportunities to land cleanly to the face of Bolanos despite being under heavy pressure almost constantly. Bolanos starts lunging with high right hands and actually scoring with them, backing Gonzalez up with a bit more urgency in his step. Gonzalez is caught with a couple more wild shots near the end of the round.

    Round 5

Gonzalez is on his bike, flicking out a few jabs and otherwise not engaging. Bolanos is slower of foot but has his eyes on the prize and keeps slugging his way in. Gonzalez is wilting a bit, getting tagged on the way out as he uncurls his spine to get away from inside exchanges and retreating with a bit more uncertainty in his body language and expression. The crowd chants "Flaco" (the nickname of Gonzalez) but he is getting clipped to the body and roughed up on the inside, and is losing this round. IN FACT - TKO!

    WTF?!?!

Before it was waved off, Bolanos sprung off his toes landed a lunging right hand to the face of a backing-up Gonzalez, but it didn't land perfectly flush and certainly didn't hurt him badly. Moments before that, the two had been exchanging punches up close.

    Ridiculous stoppage.

Good for Bolanos for seizing momentum away from the favored prospect, in any event.

Charles Huerta vs. Arturo "Tyzon" Camargo

    Round 1

Huerta looks good, walking figure-eights around Camargo and busily working his jab. Camargo, who does actually have something of a Tyson build, tries to wing overhand rights at Huerta (and the few times they glance, he splays his legs out and launches left hooks to the body) but otherwise doesn't have too much to offer. Huerta outboxes him fairly easily.

    10-9 Huerta

    Round 2

Camargo beckons Huerta to brawl with him. Huerta instead stays the course on the outside and gets walked into the ropes, where he covers up as Camargo unloads several power punches - all blocked. Camargo keeps coming forward, and ducks a Huerta jab while using lots of head movement. He actually is looking a bit Tyson-like this round. Huerta circles lazily until Camargo closes in, and then hops on his toes and snaps to attention. Huerta throws very few punches, wary of the little puncher and electing not to leave openings. Camargo pressures and throws some good body shots. Huerta rips him with a counter right hand just before the bell - that was his best punch of the round but doesn't quite steal it.

    19-19

    Round 3

Camargo has turned southpaw, and is coming in behind a right jab now. Huerta sharpshoots while using his long legs to gain distance, and turns Camargo's head with a sneaky left to the chin. Camargo gets into his chest and bats away to the ribs and liver, with some overhead lobs to the head. After they separate, Huerta lands a 1-2 through Camargo's guard. Both men open up and Huerta lands some fast combos before the bell.

    Round 4

Camargo rams himself into Huerta again and rips some right hooks to the body. They infight until Huerta takes a step back and lands a perfect right hand that stops Camargo in his tracks and wobbles him. It's an equilibrium shot - leaving Camargo in bad trouble and defenseless as Huerta digs in with a nasty left hook to the body that puts Camargo down to his knees. Camargo beats the count but is in rough shape as Huerta explodes on him, throwing hard with both hands and again connecting with a straight right to the chin. Camargo goes down on a delayed reaction and bounces up almost as soon as the ten-count is begun. Camargo tries to turn the tables and put Huerta right back on his heels. The last minute of the anti-climactic round is mostly uneventful as the two jockey for position on the inside.

    10-7 Huerta

    Round 5

Both reach around with hard body slaps while Camargo tries to walk right through Huerta. A few more good right hands straight through the middle get in for Huerta when he times them from the right distance. Camargo is getting most of his shots in to the body but keeps trying a few high left hooks and overhand rights (having turned orthodox again). Huerta is stepping in to meet Camargo halfway, leaving one knee bent, and throwing uppercuts. The strategy keeps Camargo from closing the gap and scores enough to win Huerta another round.

    Round 6

BIG 1-2 from Huerta buckles the knees of Camargo slightly. Camargo keeps pushing forward and whipping the body with underhand mallets. Huerta has a slow round offensively, just circling and pushing off at angles to keep away from Camargo's haymakers. The two get close and trade soft little flurries up high. Both seem a bit weary.

    Round 7

Camargo might have Huerta hurt! He keeps slinging powerful looping shots to either side of the body and backs Huerta into the ropes, covered up and wincing in reaction to each blow. Huerta escapes the tight spot and survives, but Camargo remains on the adrenaline high and is now running excitedly to Huerta with his body punching procession. Camargo is now virtually unmolested on his way in as Huerta is more interested in using his feet than his fists. Camargo repeatedly gets close enough to land glancing, incidental body shots before Huerta dances out of the way.

    Turnaround for Camargo, 10-9

    Round 8

Camargo looks to box more this round, eschewing his constant aggression. Huerta gets bold and flicks out a triple jab, which Camargo nimbly moves his head from. Huerta is now coming in and getting off combos, and missing, but is also getting out of there before Camargo can hit him and making Camargo miss badly when he tries. Not much leather has landed this round, period. Camargo finally gets a right and left in to the body as Huerta skirts the ropes in front of him. Camargo lands a few more down low but can't quite get a bead on Huerta's head with his high jumping hooks. Huerta is sacrificing his body to deliver rapid-fire blows to Camargo's exposed head. There is a late punch after the final bell by Huerta, but he and Camargo hug in a display of sportsmanship immediately afterward.

76-74 Huerta was my score, and that of two judges. The third had it 77-73.

Angel Torres and Cristian Tapia both make their professional debut in a 4-rounder, at light middleweight.

    Round 1

Woah! Sloppy! I must be spoiled by some of the slicker debutants that have been given screen time in the past. This is nothing but a wild punching frenzy. It is exciting, but unrefined. There is literally no technique being applied here - it's a street fight with gloves. OK - here's some boxing. They take it easy for a moment and Torres starts to jab to the body. Then it's right back to crazy flailing by both.
