Solo Boxeo Tecate: Ronny Rios vs. Adolfo Landeros/Chris Martin vs. Yogli Herrera RBR

Here we go!

 

Round 1

Hard right by Landeros. Rios darts in and out and jabs. Landeros swats and claps with his shots carelessly. Rios stays behind the jab and tries to loop a right hand through the eye of the needle. Rios isn't in the mood for sewing and parries Rios while continuing to throw a slew of reckless punches at him. Landeros already has blood smeared on his face, presumably from the stinging jabs of Rios. They trade body shots down the stretch.

10-9 Rios

 

Round 2

Rios is jabbing high and leaning down into a right hand to the body. Landeros tries to gain an edge with uppercuts on the inside but doesn't have much success. Rios leans against Landeros, then pushes off and covers in between his own offensive flurries. Rios hooks well backing up. Landeros sticks with uppercuts up the middle on the inside, mostly blocked. Rios lands a nice counter right hand that rocks Landeros very briefly. Landeros sustains his aggression with wide punches from a pace away but doesn't land much cleanly.

20-18 Rios

 

Round 3

Rios is jumping in the trenches and tossing grenades to the body of Landeros, then bringing his left hand in front of his chin as he shimmies defensively. Landeros tries to rip his head off with some undisciplined swings. Rios has his glove re-taped. Landeros starts flicking out a straight jab, lulling Rios into a boxing match. Rios lunges in with rights to the body. Rios lands a pair of jabs then a body hook and Landeros times him with a hard hook of his own. Rios backs Landeros out of an exchange with a straight right hand between the eyes.

30-27 but this one was close.

 

Round 4

Rios goes to the body and defends between punches. Nice hook to the head by Rios. Landeros is stumbling after him and trying to just put leather on him whatever the cost, eating a lot of punches and getting whacked downstairs. Landeros is spun to the ropes and as Rios opens up Landeros lands a couple of nice punches, including a hard right through the moving gloves. Landeros slaps with his right as they stand toe to toe. Rios shields his face as he pushes Landeros back physically and rips away with hooks. Landeros keeps moving his hands, missing. They stare at each other for the last ten seconds.

 

Round 5

Rios is putting extra mustard on his body punches, with both hands. Landeros is using some elbows on the inside, as landing fists on Rios hasn't been working so well for him. They have a tug-of-war out of a tangled clinch, then come right back together with their heads pinned to the opposing shoulder. Landeros keeps slamming Rios' forearms with uppercuts, and body shots fly both ways but land harder and truer for Rios.

 

Round 6

Rios drives Landeros away with a few jabs. Landeros tries to plant his feet and greet Rios with a welcoming array of punches but rolls the carpet in the wrong direction. Rios is still ripping body shots but mixing in a few spurts of headhunting now, throwing everything in combination. Landeros is grabbing Rios behind the head and pushing his arms aside, trying to force some punches to land. Rios starts jabbing to the belt line from the outside. Big 3-2-3 combo high and low from Rios as Landeros leans against the ropes.

 

Round 7

Rios continues to attack the body with hard hooks and reach-around rights. Landeros tries to lay a hand on him coming in but Rios is a step too quick for him every time, getting himself inside on Landeros and leaning against him, where he leans away slightly to tee off. Landeros does get a right hand in during one exchange but it's almost all Rios.

 

Round 8

Landeros keeps plugging away with his sloping punches but is getting his right ear hooked halfway through his skull and is taking body punishment in abundance. Rios is completely unconcerned with the power of Landeros and is no longer trying to defend much - and consequently getting hit with uppercuts and upperhooks. Landeros senses a momentary advantage as Rios gets his guard back up and takes a few backward steps. Landeros blasts away ineffectively at the gloves and forearms of Rios. Landeros watches as Rios gets on his bike. Landeros walks him nearly into a corner and throws a few good punches but Rios spins him to the ropes and answers in kind. Landeros lands the last couple of solid shots of the round.

 

80-72 from all three judges (and IB) for Rios.

Martin vs. Herrera

Round 1

Martin jabs straight & high, with a good stance (knees bent slightly, low center of gravity and ready to uncoil quickly to either punch or evade). Herrera pushes his own jab from the outside, circling cautiously. Martin follows his forward-driving jabs with long uppercuts to the body. Herrera throws a big combo jumping in and gets Martin running and bouncing off the ropes.
